Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking. He apologizes for this. He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.
Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below. His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.
<> couldn't resist. Thanks for the heads-up, Wolf.

I prefer Poser over DS. Not that DS ins't a good program, its just that somethings come out great in Poser. Like certain shaders look off in DS and great in Poser/ and vise versa.

The most interesting thing for me is how many familiar faces which haven't been as prevalent in this forum recently are there, in the linked thread. That's where everyone went!

Quote - Surprised by that? I'm not.
I didn't think I was surprised, but maybe I am. Hmm. I've always seen Daz as a marketplace, first and foremost, and 'Rosity as a community. Perhaps because that's how it was when I arrived. Daz was still just Zygote, one of the few places where Poser items could be purchased. 'Rosity wouldn't have a marketplace for a year or two, yet.
Perhaps that colors my opinion of D|S versus Poser, too. I have trouble taking D|S seriously because I have trouble taking Daz very seriously. Or something.
Or maybe I'm not prepared to throw much support behind a product made by a company which omits gentials from figures because of moralistic considerations.
It occurs to me that everyone has fled 'Rosity for Daz because Cage keeps making posts like these. :scared: It's me, isn't it? I've chased them all away. I'm the blind date! :crying:

Poor Cage. Don't be so hard on yourself... I assure you, it's not you. It's the unrelenting search for the MakeArt button. Some think they've found it at Daz.

Funny but doubtful. You're one of the actual highlights around here!
Second, DS is just a "make art button"
I wish. If that were true I would get it like a shot. antyhing to make my comic making life easier.

It may be worse than that. I heard Daz was considering implementing content filters into DS4, such that "inappropriate" content could not be loaded onto certain figures. For example, fetish wear on child figures. I understand it was just a suggestion for which they were requesting feedback. But my, my, does it tell you a lot about their corporate culture!

Well, I mean, they're good at what they do, with the model-making. I don't hate Daz. And I wrote that at least partly in jest (and misspelled my key word - D'Oh). But I'm not sure I fully trust them, either. Not enough to potentially give them any level of control over what I might or might not choose to render, anyway. Frankly, I'm a bit surprised by how many creative people aren't bothered by that. Huh.
Man, I'm going to make wolf359 sorry he started the topic. :blushing: Sorry, sorry!

I hope wolf359 doesn't give away your location to slenderman.

Oh, man. Just when I can sleep again, after the shock of Doctor Who's Silents being so very similar to "The Operator". >sob<

well look at it this way - at least this gives you a chance to be ready. Or would you rather I kept quiet and just let slenderman sneak up on you and get you when you least expect it.

I don't hate Daz either. I buy stuff from them quite frequently. I LOVE their refund policy, and I have never got any hassle from them at all over products that just didn't live up to my standards. That aspect of customer service is one thing they do very well indeed.
But their store, their content, their galleries, and their forums are a bit on the puritanical side for my taste. When I hear that someone thinks it would be a good idea to code some of their moral judgments into their software, I can only roll my eyes.
But then I also read a thread in their forums in which someone was complaining about not being able to view the Daz site at work because of the nudity. I don't ever remember seeing any there... but some people will object even to nude wireframe images, just as they'll complain at clothing stores about unclothed mannequins. What can you do?

For me the biggest advantage of DS over Poser is (IMHO) it is much easier to pose figures in DS than Poser. And that is one of the biggest hair-pulling frustrations of dealing with these types of programs, getting the figure posed correctly, right down to the fingers and toes. When DS came along with it's various new ways of posing, I thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. And I've been using Daz Studio ever since.
I still fire up Poser once in awhile for exporting scenes into Vue. Which happens to be one of the big negatives with DS, it doesn't play well with other software. So it's kind of a toss up for me.

The suggestion on which they were asking for views was an optional filtering system that users could use if they wished.

Well, optional is great. But why on earth would I want to prevent myself from using certain items with certain figures? Someone who buys erotic clothing and props with the intention of using them with child figures is not going to turn on the option at all, are they? So what's the point?
And if I'm worrying about my kids using it... ah, um, are kids really that keen on making sexual and inappropriate images of children? Is that really something that keeps parents up at night with worry?
I mean, I'm sorry. I am just not worried that some pedophile is going to break into my home, log onto my computer, and render pictures of kids in latex body suits. I'm just not. I'm sorry. The whole idea is so absurd, I can't help laughing while I type this.

Microsoft is protecting me from myself by making me log on to the computer next to my laptop each and every time I bring the two Win7 systems up - and yet family members on WinXP systems can reboot and log on to the same computer I have to manually log on to (WinXP apparently doesn't suffer from the network credentials amnesia Win7 does). Perhaps Daz talked to Microsoft and got the idea from them - we need protecting mostly from ourselves...
...agreeing with you, Moriador. trying in vain to come up with a scenario where having an optional filtering system would actually be useful (or used). But thank you for the laugh. Ridiculopathies merit pointing out, and you've done so in a more entertaining way.

Content Advisory! This message contains profanity
With something like that, I tend to assume the feature represents an undeclared agenda of the company, masquerading as a new, useful tool for the end user. All that new security hassleware-garbage in Windows? It's about MS making it harder for copies to be bootlegged overseas, and damn the domestic home user. Or so this paranoid poster believes.
In this case, I'd suspect that Daz just wanted to make a statement. "We disapprove of this sort of thing and hope you do, too!" But say Poser is beaten by Daz. Daz wins, no more Poser, no more competition. Daz no longer has to worry about what the user thinks. If they actually wanted to block content in the past but restrained themselves, they no longer need to. They have a captive market. If software kept me awake at night, this is the kind of thing I'd think about.
I'm giving RobynsVeil Win Points for "Ridiculopathies". :thumbupboth:

Quote - Well, before you get too worried check how the suggestion was received in the Platinum Club area (which is where feedback was requested, which is why I can't say more than has already been leaked by a previous poster)
You mean the one that requires one to be in the Platinum Club to see?
Doesn't do a whole lot of good to suggest going there for people without Platinum Club access...
