Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 29 10:50 pm)
Several things spring to mind as probable causes...
Lights. Default lights are horrible, don't ever use them.
Shader setup. Skin shaders are notoriously difficult to get looking ok without a lot of headaches. The default shaders supplied with DAZ's figures are not great. Many people here use and recommend BagginsBill's VSS, which gives superb results when used with an appropriate light setup.
Gamma correction. This is a whole can of worms in itself but there are a lot of users who use some form of GC and can tell you how to set it up to get the best results.
I confess all the above are beyond my scope to instruct on but there are many others here who can point you in the right direction.
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
If you use PP2010's GC with a character set you've bought, be prepared to do a bit of mat work... GC and shaders meant for a system without GC don't mix well.
PS. Read up on IDL before you even think of messing with it. I hate it ATM.
WARK!

"With great power comes great responsibility", said uncle Ben to Peter Parker.
Poser Pro 2010 brang lots of rendering goodies with it, but those goodies do need to be told what to do to properly be useful. But once you get the hang of it, you won't want to go back to how things were before.
still hooked to real life and enjoying the siesta!

try turning off GC and using tone mapping HSV at 2.2

I aim to update it about once a month. Oh, and it's free!
First of all a screengrab tells more then a 1000 words.
How many lights did you use? Wild guess; too many.
What are your render settings?
Is it an indoor or outdoor render?
If outdoor? One infinite light, with BB"s sfere and IDL will do.
If indoor, completely other ballgame.
For tests, do area renders, saves a lot of time.
and yes, agreed, eyes are the most difficult part to get right.
HSV is a node in the mat room, you can plug it to change Hue, Saturation and Value of a texture. Page 251 of the manual.

Just getting back into Poser. I have Poser Pro 2010, iMac. The preview image looks great, eyes have highlights, skin is good but when I render it, the eyes turn bright white and the skin goes to a dull yellowish pink. What's up?
