Subject: PP2012 64 bit....Slowwwwwwwwwwwwwww

thefixer ( ) posted Sun, 02 October 2011 at 10:03 AM · edited Wed, 20 November 2024 at 10:24 AM

I'm finding it very slow to use, load a figure and it takes quite a few seconds after it's loaded for me to move a camera or anything..

Cloth room is also very slow to calculate, it gets there but it's a lot slower than my P7 was..

Anyone else having speed issues??

Box specs..

Quad core Q6600, 8 Gig RAM, Nvidia 9800GT with 1 Gig on board RAM..

Several people have reported that turning off hardware acceleration in OpenGl will speed display up, You might try that.

Fixer, I have the same processor, so it must be a video driver/3d setting issue as the previous poster posted.

(At radeon here, and everything is quite speedy.)

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

Why is Ppro 2012 slow when loading ?

Nothing to do with the graphic card ...

The good answer is :

When you load a prop or a figure it pre-load all the textures for speeding render.

When you delete a prop or a figure it delete all the textures too.

These two only if the texture is not used on another prop.

When you start a new scene it delete all the textures, no more "ALT-F4" for cleanup the ram.

Well your answers are all well and good, but my Poser 7 does it much quicker and that can't take advantage of a 64 bit machine like Pp2012 can..

Poser 7 is faster than this new version at the moment..Fact.

I also have Poser 8 installed and that's faster too..

If you turn off HW Shading in the render settings - is it still slower than P8?

thefixer ( ) posted Sun, 02 October 2011 at 12:39 PM

I'm not talking about rendering, I don't render inside Poser that much. I'm talking about loading for example V4, once she's in the scene the app becomes stalled for a number of seconds before responding again..It's always the same when adding to a scene or even a blank workspace for that matter..

I also do NOT talk about rendering.

In the render settings, switch to the preview tab - there you can turn off HW Shading

This is the settings which improves the preview display with shadows and shaders.

Poser 8 had this setting off as default. (HW Shading was not as good as P9's, so it was not used as much). P9 has it set on by default

Bill, no offence, I couldn't find it after you'd said...[shrug]

I wasn't ignoring you or your advice...

I don't render inside Poser so am not as familiar with the render settings as I should be...

LOL, you could not offend me.  I have been online since text based services were the rule.  Anyone easily offended should not go to the forums.  I don not post here very often though.  More on RDNA and DAZ.
