We had some really strange clouds here today so I took some pics. I don't know if they're anything you all can use for anything but here's a link to the ones I put up on my website.   The link takes you to the page with todays pics.  The other page is just some pictures I took earlier in the summer.

We live in town so it's hard to get a picture without an electric line or something. I have a little program on my pc somewhere that takes out unwanted stuff but I couldn't find it in the jumbled mess that my program files are in.

Great clouds, wish we had more clouds here in so-cal. Boring blue skies gets old after years.

You might want to try HDRI imaging, it brings phenomenal structure out of these. See my brother's videos and slideshows, there's always a lot on clouds, he loves clouds when he chases tornados, but he hates them when chasing solar eclipses. Talk about bipolarity .... and he's my twin!

I think he uses PhotoMagic, a very popular imaging tool you can also find for free trial at download.com but go to the source if you can.

He's got a digital camera with auto bracketing, so a single shot causes 3 pictures to be taken rapidly in sequnce, on with normal exposure, then one with -2 and another with +2 on the aperture. That way you have 3 pictures, in Raw format each, to combine into an amazing dynamic range. And that proggy makes it fun. You can also do the same with Project Dogwaffle, in layers that are combined in various modes such as screen mode, additive mode, multply mode etc... at various weight levels.  It's fascinating what comes out of such experiments at times.

I think those are called 'lenticular' clouds. We had a bunch of them over here not too long ago.

I considered doing a little photoshop work to the pictures but changed my mind. I figured I'd just mess them up because I don't do much with photos in PS.

"Lenticular"  Does sound like some kind of disease doesn't it??  LOL

@ staigermanus.. Those pics at the link are wonderful! Must be really exciting to chase those storms.

Nah there the ones that look like UFO's. They look a bit like mammatus in some respects, but not as clearly defined.

I have a real thing for super cells and tornados. Check out some of the images on this guys site
