No, actually, I don't have my answer to what I asked. pjz99 gave details on his technique and his approach. You haven't given that. That's what I was asking: really interested what method you used. 😄

ETA: I'm not attacking... just asking. Sorry if that's read as an attack. If Male_Media rather not answer, that's definitely his right. I was just curious, that's all.

Male_M3dia does not have to answer because this is so far off topic than what this thread is supposed to be about. This thread isn't about how Terry dresses his genesis characters.

Also that ends the line of questioning. And please, no passive-aggressive responses.

Quote - 1) And you've done this with the CCT?

Frankly no, because a) the topic is V5 in Poser, and b) I'm familiar with the process of doing this in Poser, and c) I can see from reading the documentation (which you evidently have not, and I encourage you to do) that the process is not terribly different in D|S CCT.

Quote - 2) Misinformed is exactly what it is if you repeat the "must be modelled with the default genesis shape." It is what it is. Research before you speak.

Where exactly did I say "must be modeled with the default genesis shape"?  I described in detail the process of modeling around a morph target, which is NOT the default Genesis shape.  You yourself should research before you say anything (like maybe THIS THREAD).  But incidentally, DAZ themselves had this to say:

"DAZ 3D recommends modeling to the Genesis base figure when possible, but acknowledges that some clothing will be more difficult to model on an androgynous figure, as it would be too hard to imagine what the garment would look like on a gendered or specific figure. It is possible to model the OBJ on on your intended shape, convert back to the Genesis™ default shape, and correct the morph as appropriate. "

Quote - 3) I'm just wanting to know what elaborate outfit that you've actually made to and sold one copy of to pull rank? That goes for you too, Robin. If there are none, this line of questioning ends. You asked the original question, you got an answer.

Umm, the most elaborate item you made is a tail... which easy pose tool did you use? No dresses. Just panty and body suits.

Like I said, this line of questioning has ended.

I don't see it being off topic, this thread is about V5 and the question is a valid one.

All the best.

If Male_Media doesn't want to provide an answer to the question - for whatever reason, PE - I suppose that's his right. He doesn't have to cite "off-topic" as a reason. I'm happy with his answer. Strongly reminiscent of the answers I used to get about Eilir/Shader Mixer, actually - it's all good. I'm used to it.

I like the faint praise on the tail, thanks man!

ps: still interested to see the types of garments you've modeled and rigged, and how you did your fitting morphs!

Hand-rigged, too. The man's a master... I don't have a hope getting anywhere this good, but it's fun trying 😄 You're an inspiration pjz99!!

I'm waiting for the new position for the goalposts (probably "oh you don't sell those therefore some nonsense").  Although really I'd seriously like to hear a simpler process for this than what I described.

Never say that.  Just go forth and do it, and keep doing it until you start getting it.  Nothing really magical going on with those rigs, just time and work (a lot of it).

Are there tools or scripts  you use to take some of the burden of repetitive actions? I mean, rigging would be a lot less intimidating if it wasn't "For Step 174 you do this, then for step 175..."

Bejaymac ( ) posted Mon, 05 December 2011 at 7:37 PM

Quote - I can see how you would get away with it for plain cloth but what happens if you have details such as buckles, buttons, eyelets, laces or straps over an area that is going to morph by anything more than a little?

You add a rigidity map to the item, this stops the defined parts of the mesh from distorting when it's morphed, they'll still follow the morph but maintain their shape.

For procedures that you pretty much have to figure out for yourself, e.g. how to change geometry as we've been talking about, I've never heard of any such.  I guess it'd be possible to write something like that but I'm not a very good scripter at all, and I've never heard of anyone even attempting to do this kind of geometry conversion before - I'm sure people have tried, but since it's so much harder than simply modeling around the character's base morph, I think anyone who tries it immediately says "wow this is super fucked" and never does it again.

In your more ordinary approaches to modeling and rigging in Poser, there isn't all that much that needs to be done repetitively really.  Fitting morphs yes, and those are prime candidates for automation (I use Morphing Clothes, with manual intervention where required, which isn't too often).

Poser can't do stuff like rigidity maps (would be nice if it could).
