Subject: Posing & Props Question-Keeping Them Attached

MarkR151 ( ) posted Sun, 19 February 2012 at 5:25 AM · edited Sun, 21 July 2024 at 6:52 AM

Recently I got a wedding ring as a prop for my V4 and it loaded and fit on well enough to her finger, but everytime I go to change her pose, the wedding ring becomes disconnected and floats in the air a few feet away.

Someone told me I need to "Parent" the ring to Victoria 4, but when I try that, it still doesn't work. And by Parent, they mean Change Parent to V4? Or change parent to the Ring Finger? I've tried both ways. Also, deleting the ring in the scene, reloading the ring again, & starting all over again by pulling the ring over and choosing Parent to V4. Still doesn't stay in place when I change the pose again.

What am I missing here?

Btw, DS4 Advanced, Win 7/64.

Parenting to the ring finger should work. Remember that the hands are labelled from the figure's view, not yours, so make sure you have the correct finger set as parent. What prodct is this?

This ring I got here @ Rendo:

http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/diamond-finger-ring-tiffany-setting-01-for-poser/55109

Originally meant for Poser I believe, but it works & fits well on her Left hand(camera Right when she's facing me) and on the Ring finger in DS4.

But one thing I've been doing is adjusting the fit from the default apply setting in fine tuning the adjustments slightly so it fits on her ring finger perfectly. The top 4(3 Translate + 1 Rotate) parameter settings are changed very slightlyso it fits all the way through her finger & rotated straight upward or outward depending on her body angle. I move her around above & under to check for perfect fit & after those minor adjustments, it does indeed look perfect.

Her hair fits & stays on her head even when she's doing all kinds of poses, so I'm not sure why the ring hasn't been staying put. I never parented the hair to her head, but it stays on anyway through every pose.

do not change the setting dials on the ring to make a better fit until after you pose it,

and yes it must be parented to the exact right part of the finger that it lands on when loaded...

try this

load v4,

load the ring

click on the part of the finger under the ring

that is where it should be parented to..

then pose v4

and adjust the ring
