Subject: Suddenly poser stopped working

makis12 ( ) posted Sat, 03 March 2012 at 4:04 AM · edited Fri, 16 August 2024 at 1:32 AM

I tried to open poser pro 2010 yesterday and without reason suddenly  it doesn t respond. To be more specific when i double click the icon on my desktop it appears the picture with the woman for a few seconds (as it does always)and after that it opens the library window and that s all.The icon of poser exists at the bottom of my screen (on my start up line) and though it seems as it is normally runing when i click on it ,nothing happens.Poser 6 is perfectly working. Can you help?

Thank you guys

Sounds like it is off screen.

Did you have a second monitor plugged in before and now you don't?

Are you on Windows? If so you can "grab" the window as if to move it.

Tap the taskbar button for Poser so it has focus. Then type Alt-Space M Left-arrow

(Hold alt, hit the space bar, release alt, hit the m key, hit the left-arrow key)

You are now moving the window - move the mouse around and see if you can find it.

I would say:

  • either the Library startup is not finished yet or won't finish at all (it should leave a second icon on the taskbar, bring it upfront and watch the counter at the bottom)
  • or Poser itself has a sudden problem opening the user interface, which usually is OpenGL / video-driver related.

"without reason suddenly" is not a habit for computers. Did Windows Update installed a new videodriver perhaps? Open Windows Update and look at the history.

Re-installing the Poser software, perhaps? Perhaps something "improved" on the registry.

Usually I'm wrong. But to be effective and efficient, I don't need to be correct or accurate.

visit www.aRtBeeWeb.nl (works) or Missing Manuals (tutorials & reviews) - both need an update though

AB - he said the library is up - only the library. So it can't be library startup hasn't finished.

Look in your task manager and see if it is still on, maybe it never shut off corretly.

If nothing works, try the magic of deleting the LibraryPrefs.xml but make a copy of it if you have external runtimes installed. Poser creates a new one but only with the standard runtime plus downloads.
