Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 25 12:38 pm)
There was a messup when DAZ sent the files to 3DWorld; you only need to install the first file listed, and there is a pose file that was not included, which can be gotten by emailing the magazine.
Once you install her into DS4, you can export her; Under Files>Export choose Poser cr2; I exported her into a blank runtime folder structure which I added to Poser as an external runtime.
There are still some issues; transparency is turned off on the transparency map for the eye lashes; set it to 100% in the material room. Also there are no bump maps set up, which is forunate since the displacement is set absurdly high. If you save the materials as a material collection, applyt to V4 (it will look bad because the mapping is wrong, but no worries), you can then run EZSkin on V4, save the material collection, and reapply it to Genesis (it picks up an extra zone, so tell it to ignore: Thanx to WimvdB for this trick).
Genesis clothing can be exported with mixed results; fit it to the figure in Studio, and export it as above (tick the conforming clothing check box) conform it to the figure in Poser, dial in the morphs and with the clothing selected select Copy Joint Zones from the Figure menu. I'm hoping that SR2 will improve this; we'll see...
Have Fun...

"Oh - the manual says that? I have never read the manual - this must be why."Wouldn't it be great if someone did post a "sticky" for getting Genesis into Poser that allways works!
Having tried to get a V4 derivative into Poser 2012 using all the methods I can find I still wind up with the model but completely colored - and this changes each time the figure is loaded!
The Materials room shows this color on 25 Materials_0 to _25 and the Preview! Although the desired textures are present and linked to the appropriate element the "Material" color overrides.
Any suggestion and help would be appreciated - I'm running out of hair!
Bits: Studio 4.0.3.47 64bit, Poser 2012 SR1 64bit, Win 7
Just apply the V4 material/mat pose in Poser...

"Oh - the manual says that? I have never read the manual - this must be why."Hi W and W - thanks for the suggestion.
Yep - if you apply a different figure mat file in Poser the new textures are included in the Material table correctly - but the overriding color cast unfortunately remains.
The current color is H31 S206 L47 - I delete the figure, re-import, and it has now become H180 S193 L120! Perhaps if I could delete Material_0 to Material_25 from the Materials list it would work - but I do not know how to do that. This color must come from somewhere!
Note to self - try to stop pulling hair out.
I haven't seen it this, but I yet haven't reexported my Genesis with V4/M4 UVs with the latest version of Studio. Are you loading a texture before you export? I had exported each with one of the textures that came with Studio...

"Oh - the manual says that? I have never read the manual - this must be why."I followed the Daz video to the letter - since this method has also been used by others.
Genesis loaded; V4 shapes modified; textures added; Zeroed "Figure"; set resolution etc. then exported .obj from File menu. Options for exporting as shown on video. Then exported .cr2 also from File menu. The figure does transfer to Poser with textures - but these can't get past the "color cast" materials!
Poser Format Exporter for Studio 4 cannot export a .cr2 - only pz2 or fc2, not what I need.
All very weird - but must be linked to Poser somehow.
Thanks for the interest.....
The way the CR2 exporter exports texture is pretty bad. In the one example I haved in front of me it has attached a reflection map at fill strenght to the body skin. It also does not attach the transparency maps to the transmap channel. So you either correct the textures by hand, apply the V4 texture maps (if you have them) or you do what I do and use EZSkin to correct the textures.
EZSkin does currently not support genesis directly, but can be used via a trick.
- save the genesis material to the library as a collection
- load a default V4
- apply the material you just saved
- Run EZSkin on it
- Save the material again to the library as a collection
- apply the new material to genesis, answering No if asked for adding new material zones
Now you have decent skin attached to genesis. If someone writes a genesis XML for EZSkin you would be able to use it directly on genesis
But I am still wondering where you get the Material0 to 15 from. I don't see those at all. I just see the standard material zones for genesis and there is no color cast whatsoever on the diffuse node
But I wonder. Which version of the exporter are you using (from which DS4 version). The current exporter is much different from the one in the video (better defaults)
There is definitely something strange in your exported version. Attached a capture of my material lost after a cr export.
There is not a lot to choose from in the exporter options - Path names for storing the bse and cr2 and options for PMD and EXP which I have left unchecked. Nothing else
Do you see anything different?

"Oh - the manual says that? I have never read the manual - this must be why."Problem solved!! Not having tried to do the export of Genesis before I was misled into thinking the problem was related to this activity. It wasn't - simply put - video driver problem. Nvidia 295.73 64 bit gives me the grief - or at least, the roll-back to the previous driver seems to have fixed the mysterious Material color cast.
Thanks for the interest and comments - much appreciated.

Hi
I have an installation disk for Victoria 5 that came with 3D World magazine.
It says that it supports Daz Studio and Poser.
It will install to the Daz Studio Directory though I can't find it in Daz Studio 4 after the installation.
But I don't really understand Daz Studio and have never serously tried to use it.
Anyway the problem is that I can't figure out anyway to get it into Poser 9.
These are the install files...
This is the error message I get when I try to install anyplace except Daz Studio...
Anyone know how to do this?
Mike
