Subject: Poser 2012 M4 - Could somebody humour me please?

Ok, before I pull out my hair I also had a friend take a look at this and we both got the exact same results.   If anyone has the time to try this here's the problem I've been having.

I bring in the M4.cr2 (the one without any morphs injected).   Bring in a conforming item usually something that is close to the skin and not too bulky and conform.   There is pokethrough on the chest and in some cases on the arms.   I've tried an array of clothing items from RT productions to Luthbel's to Uzilite.   The pokethrough varies according to the style of the clothing but it's still there.

I tried Poser Pro 2010 as well and get the same pokethrough although I'm certain I never had that problem in the past.   Both PP2012 and PP2010 are updated to their latest service releases respectively.  I've only had this appear in the last month or so and have no idea what's causing it.

Next I tried Poser 7.   The clothes conformed just fine and I saved the .pz3 and reopened it in both Poser 2010 and 2012 where it looks perfect with no pokethrough at all.   At this point I gave up trying to figure it out.

Seeing as a friend who also has P7 and PP2012 already tried this out for me and got the same results I can only conclude that there is some kind of bug in PP2010 and PP2012 where M4 and his conformers are concerned.   But since I have never seen this mentioned in any of the forums it begs the question:  Is anyone rendering clothed M4s in PP2012?

Oh, and yes I've unchecked 'use external binary morph targets'.

I mostly use Poser 7 even though I have Poser 2010 and 12 but the library is almost no functional so I don't use it much other than testing. But good to know since I haven't upgraded lately so that coul be the cause. Or not ... Not very helpful, I know :)

I have PP2012 64bit, SR1 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, loaded Mike 4 and conformed JoeQuick's Mach 1 Pt5 bodysuit and it's skin tight (ShareCG) by dropping onto the figure. Everything is where's it's supposed to be :). I don't have external binary morph targets turned on either.

In the preview there are two tiny dots of skin under each moob, but do not render. Only the suit renders. No poke.

You may have to consider your OS and whether or not you are using the 32 or 64 bit version of PP2012

I haven't noticed it, myself.  Do you have the latest version of M4 installed?  There a have been a couple of updates over time...

M4 conforming clothing needs to have the "Match End Points When Conforming" set in the body properties of the clothing. Same for K4.

P9 and PP2012 are more strict with this and this setting has been specifically created to keep compatibility with the M4 and K4 figures

And here with JoeQuick's SciFi Armor and Mach 1.6 bodysuit. Neither had any poke thru.

Things that I would look for:-

Open the joint editor and check the BODY center for both figure and clothing. Are they identical?

Dose the poke through persist when rendered?

Does the poke though exist in a fully zeroed pose?

Does M4 use magnets and if so have you "magnetized" the clothing? (I know that V4 has them, can not remember if M4 does also.)

Here are the latest results.   I reset and reinstalled M4.   BODY center for both figure and clothing are indentical.  I used the shirt from Jack of Hearts and I've checked "Match end points when conforming" in the clothing and then conformed.   The results were the same as you can see in the image.   Poke through is present in a fully zeroed pose.  The pokethrough is there when I render as well.  I don't see any magnetize poses for M4 like I have for V4 so I can't magnetize the clothing.

I'm using the 32bit PP2012.

Next I tried with Uzilite's Marquis shirt where the pokethrough is less pronounced but still there.   This time I didn't check "Match end points when conforming" before I conformed but after.   It made absolutely no difference.

Same Maquis shirt (I don't have the other one)

Matchpoint checked

I conformed and then checked matchpoints in the clothing

wimvdb ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2012 at 12:44 PM

From the picture posted you have not checked the Match Endpoints when conformed option in the cloth

LaurieA ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2012 at 12:45 PM

Why is it automatic for some and not for others then?

Ok, sorry, it works on the Marquis if I conform and THEN check the "match end points".   In Jack of Hearts it doesn't work.   I tried both checking it before conforming and after and it doesn't work either way.  Now I'm testing all the M4 clothing I have and I get random results.   Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't . . .

wimvdb ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2012 at 12:52 PM

You can set the option in the Cr2. For recent clothing this is usually done.

For older clothing which does not closely match the body, there is no pokethrough

When this problem became apparent about half a year ago, this option was introduced for M4 and K4. I tried all the clothing items I had at that time (which was a lot) and all of them worked fine. Some needed the option, others not. The problem is caused by a bug in the cr2 of M4/K4 which did not matter in earlier versions, but did matter in P9/PP2012

But the Jack Of Hearts pokethrough seems to be another problem. It looks like it does not fit at all

Can you give me names of the other clothing which does not work?

I'd like to try it and report it to SMSI if I can confirm the problem

I'm rebooting and starting over to test all of them again.   The Jack of Hearts shirt comes in in the correct position and seems fine but only when conformed has the problem.   In PP2010 as well but not in P7.   Those are the only versions I have installed atm.   So apparently whatever problem it had was also present in PP2010 whereas the Marquis shirt is fine in PP2010.   Maybe it is just the Jack of Hearts which was the item I originally wanted to use and thus turned into this thread :)

I'll let you know if I find any other clothing where 'match end points' does not work.

Apparently there is an updated version of the Jack Of Hearts. Accidentally the Hiro Morph was set to 1.0. There should be an update.

Here is the snippet from a DAZ forum message:

it appears that the shirt has by default the Hiro Stylised morph dialed to 1. If you don't have Hiro installed, just select the shirt and dial the Stylised morph down to 0 (or select the bodyparts and do so). If you have Hiro installed, the cross-talk should dial it down to 0 anyway and you shouldn't see that. If you are still showing that after dialing down Stylised to 0, and you don't have Hiro installed, please let us know. As far as I am aware the correction for this was already submitted, no idea why it hasn't been updated.

Everything that had pokethrough gets fixed with setting "match end points" after conforming the item.  The only clothing item that retains pokethrough is the Jack of Hearts shirt - funnily enough the one I started with and wanted to render.    I can always conform it in P7 and then reopen the .pz3 in PP2012 though.   If anyone has that shirt and cares to try it out I'd really like to know if it's just me or if it's you too :)

I think we crossposted - yes, there is a problem with the Jack of Hearts shirt, see my previous post

Just a silly question and just to be sure, you did run the "Update Michael 4 Base" batch file?

Yes I did, and no other clothing has the problem so at least now I know it's not a Poser problem but just with a specific clothing item.
