Subject: New DAZ site wishlist

Greetings,

I'm being patient with DAZ; I nearly worked someplace who had built their whole company on Magento, and were trying to change off of it.  I have a good idea how much frustration they're feeling, and I hope they get a good night sleep now and then.

That said, I noticed a few things missing in the Wishlist, which I could actually fix myself.

Here are the things I noticed (that I could fix, e.g. sort order by alphabetical or release date is NOT on this list, although they may be eventually feasible):

  • Product names not centered under the product images
  • The price is tiny and lost under the main product row
  • The comment areas take up too much space and make the rows feel cluttered
  • You can't see which items in your wishlist are on sale

So, as a software developer conversant in HTML, CSS and JavaScript, I thought 'Why don't I fix this, at least for myself.'

In Firefox (with the Greasemonkey plugin) and Chrome (built-in) there is support for a kind of 'plugin' called a 'user script'.  What it does is match the web page you are on with a list, and if it matches, it runs a small piece of code which can tweak the site, change the styling, etc...  The scripts have access to whatever's on the page.

My User Script for the new DAZ site, tweaking the UI for the Wishlist page and adding back a 'Show Specials' toggle, is here: DAZ3D Wishlist Improvements

Use it in good health, once DAZ comes back up again!

p.s. It looks like they've posted a brief new update at their facebook page, so check it out if you can.  (I'm sure it's posted elsewhere, that's just where I first noticed it.)

p.p.s. If you have any problems with the script, please feel free to post here, and I'll try to help out.  You have to be using a recent Chrome, or Firefox with Greasemonkey installed, to use the tweak script.

I just can't see mine at all. :( The server chokes and dies on it. :(

I think the new site ate 8 items off my wishlist.

The indicator at the top says 156 and when I get to the actual list it says 148.

I noticed that items that I saw listed "Out of Stock" no longer appear.
