i'm having trouble shifting into learning mode today. been goofing around.

purely as a learning exercise, i haz started making a completely new cr2 for Dork.

• it's hilarious to see how much i can completely screw it up

• gives ideas of how i would do the mesh differently for a new male figure

• and try out how workable new ideas result,
  like, an elbow between upper arm and forearm. or elbow1 and elbow2

would anyone else would be interested in practicing on Dork and compare notes as we go along?

asides from bounces. minshader, what else can increase render quality?
and what can softness settings do?

and try to recreate my sim's house in poser. there's a nice house near the top of the waterfall and a nice house near the bottom.  i can see the waterfall in the distance from standing near the lake at the sims pets park.

can't decide what to work on today.  undecided myself to a standstill.

too many things to uvmap, doh, doan wanna uvmap today.

They let us go early today at work because our East Coast offices are in Norfolk, VA. They are all home to weather this thing out. Uhhh, no pun intended.

But, in keeping this thread on track, I started on version 2,000,000,000.02 of my cowl for Green Lightning. I got the rest of his costume done, but that part keeps giving me trouble.

I intend to keep at it until I get something workable today. Got a 2 liter of Pepsi and 3 beers left from a six pack to get me through. Oh, and the other half of a pizza I ordered last night and couldn't finish (that's where the other 3 beers went).

in between, waits for bread dough to rise a bit more. my first ever loaf of bread made from scratch. unbromated unbleached flour, gluten free yeast. 
no idea what gluten?  but, the new sexi at the organic market is gluten-free?

need a triple espresso shot latte before i can sit at the rig today.

time to put all the shader lessons (special thanks to BB!)  to the test --> vrooom vrooom

I am finishing a strong cuppa cawfee right now (Sumatran). I had a fine hike yesterday (Point Reyes National Seashore, Callyfohnia), tuckered out, and a long snooze.

Had the hard drive wiped last week for what turned out to be a problem with the monitor, so needed to (re)install Poser w/e.  Bought P9 on sale, then downloaded it and all other DAZ and Renderosity purchases ever made that were not shipped on disc.

Still need to install everything, then the discs, then see what is what and where it went.  I know I can point the library at a runtime, but I will need to look for them if some random product tries to make its own.

Then I get to learn the fundamental differences between P7 (which I never really learned) and P9.  I might even put clothes on the girls this year instead of just body painting them. :)

well, dressing the girls with p9 library is quicker, you can drag all the pieces at once and comform all at once.

cooked up some Mother's Day pancakes. - with genuine IHOP strawberry syrup  :)

Ok, I'm game. I probably drink about 5 pots of coffee a day so... Check.

1_ Ev3 custom morph and texture set (from scratch, but starting to think I might have to use some mr to ease up and speed along) for V4 (with easy posed antennae as parented figures).

2_ Lilitu custom morph and texture set (as above) with "goat of the Sabbath" smart prop pubic hair and some other character specific props.

3_Primorge's Brobdingnagian Morphing Plant Pack, with ant hill set piece and some utility non-human figures (twigs, leaves, etc).

4_Penile crawler creature (reminiscent of some of Davo's nasties but not quite as elaborate), figure, probably put it at renderotica I guess when it's done.

...and some other percolating odds and ends. Kind of all over but that's how I have fun. Figure if I concentrate on those top 4 a little at a time, switching back and forth when I get too bored, they'll eventually get finished. Beginning to develop a keen interest in trying may hand at rigging insects also. Spending a lot of time looking at Noggin's, Anton kisiel's, and Ancestorsrelic's work in the set-up room. Great stuff, and not as difficult as thought at first. Now, if I could just become independantly wealthy so I didn't have to do the 40 hr work week thing, sigh.

trying desperately to get through this render. It has been going now 18 hours and still only just over half way through.

played in sculptris but not happy with "pig beast" had a small fit and closed it.

and zbrush...I play in sculptris and its amazing to work with . so easy to get use to.

I've been holding off with delving too far into making character morphs until this pair came along... ever since I got the hint they were in the pipeline... wanted to see how they panned out. With the Pixar subd optimisation there, and GoZ compatibility (I presume!) I think they're going to have been worth the wait.

As I understand it there is some form of skin merchant resource accompanying them... I think? Hope so, that'd be a big boost to them... be great, I think, for what I'm planning to do with them.

Yeah... those chocolate coffee beans are good. You can just eat them... no need to percolate :)

Today is a day of rigging for me. My Halo armor for Miki 4... which has been renamed Battle Armor to avoid problems.

I am also working on a very accurate/detailed costume to convert Ryan 2 with the bodybuilder morph set at 1.000 to Space Ghost.

But if I want to get anything done, I gotta get off the interwebs...

trying to get an early start on my posering this weekend.  but i might end up playing Dragon Quest viii instead.
