Subject: shaved hair style for V4

Dogsleg ( ) posted Wed, 20 June 2012 at 12:06 AM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 6:34 AM

I am looking for a shaved hair style for V4. I have seen pictures of her with shaved hair but unfortunately i dont know of any such products so i cant make a request for a specific file.

I already have the “Boy Hair for V4″ which is not shaved but very short. Its a freebie from here

Not clear what you're asking. Most V4 textures have her as bald (which is what a genuine shave would be), although a few have textures with hair on the scalp. Now, if you are asking for hairstyles with a partially shaved scalp, there are a few those available in the Rendo store. Should find a number from outoftouch, and probably a few others.

I'm suspecting you're using the basic V4 texture, which has hair on the scalp, and a purplish bikini. If that's the issue, yes, just buy another texture/character set and load it up. As I said, most of them are bald.

Thanks - Yes I maybe blond   - But yes I am looking for a hair that looks like you have cut it very short  alot shorter than the freebie I have yet not bald

aRtBee ( ) posted Wed, 20 June 2012 at 1:23 AM

can't you just grow her some dynamic hair of half a cm or so? Up to the Hair Room, that is.

I was just wondering if anyone knew of an item or a vender who had so I could purchase it here that would make it so much easier for me and my blonde hair

Believable3D ( ) posted Wed, 20 June 2012 at 2:35 AM

I'm not aware of a product that would be basically "scalp whiskers." As ArTBee suggested, you could use the Hair Room, but most newbies aren't all that comfortable in there....

the bad news: no such product around. The reason is that the usual transparency mapping / texturing techniques for conforming hair don't do well on really short hair (<2cm), while displacement mapping stops showing believable quality at lengths over say 2mm.

the good news: I'm doing a tutorial on this, including trimmed hair with shaving patterns, scheduled for end of this month. I let you know.

In the meantime, just experiment in Hair Room. You don't need any dynamics, just

  • select part of the scull for hair growth (New+Edit), then Grow Guide Hairs
  • set hair length to 5mm or so. Poser Units are your own settings, mine are meters so 5mm = 0.005. Inches make say 0.2
  • variance and Pull are 0.0 as hair is trimmed and stand right out anyway
  • hair thickness (panel 3) is 1 to tip as well as root,
  • clump and kink can be zeroed out, and 4 verts per hair is good enough
  • you'll need about 400,000 hairs I guess for this, your render will tell.

Then manage the coloring in Material Room. Shaving patters can be plugged into the Transparency channel, color patterns can be pluged in the already presented (default blonde) color setting.

Tip: publish your intermediate results right here, I'm happy to talk you through.

Granted this is for M4, but I have been able to adapt it for V4 as well.

And it's free! :)

i7 6800 (6 core/12 thread), 24 GB RAM, 1 gtx 1080 ti (8GB Vram) + 1 Titan X (12GB Vram), PP11, Octane/Poser plugin, and a partridge in a pear tree.

I have found a V4 beta for this one via google, but it's a locked file and I can't find its source, sorry -  so maybe contact the creator and ask if that will be available to public anytime soon?

There was a post not too long ago concerning the rendering of a shaved head V4 product from 'rotica.  I would check that site for such content.  We are not allow to post links to questionable sites of that nature.

M4 => V4 props adapting tutorial:

  1. Load M4 obj (blMilMan_m4b.obj)

  2. Load hair obj (do not know obj name)

  3. Select M4 obj/prop and load V4 obj (blMilWom_v4.obj) as a morph target.

  4. go to frame 5 and set loaded morph = 1 (M4 transforms to V4)

  5. in cloth room clothify hair obj, select all as constrained group

6 calculate simulation, create morph in frame 5, set dynamic=0 morph=1, export morphed hair as an obj.

what's wrong with the color?

We just had over 10.000 soccer fans with clothes and hair like that in Ukraine. Ditto for face, I'm afraid.

Next time we'll send some guys who can score goals as well and make it to the next round. This time the Dutch had the highest price / performance ratio on the field (as in: all billionares and zero points). :b_uncertain:

you might look for the keyword 'velvet cut' or 'plush cut'  thats the swank name for longer than shaved stubble but shorter than a buzzcut. Its the pettable stage :)

I've often seen it as an between stage when people chop the mohawk and let evrything else grow in. Or to er reset the hair for people who like wild dye colours. Yes I hang out with strange people .. point? lol

I seem to recall a freebie m4 dynamic hair patterned shaved set. At RDNA maybe?

the V4 Character Grace at DAZ had an excellent close cropped afro hair which I find useful as well.
