Subject: Need Help

dazKeith ( ) posted Tue, 10 July 2012 at 12:30 AM · edited Sat, 10 August 2024 at 8:27 AM

I just took advantage of Daz's recent pre July 4th sale and purchased some items. I have them now and I don't know how to install them. Daz's content use to have installers with them to make it easier but now it's just a file (e.g) Michael 4 Skinmaps MC42NjU0MTcwMCAxMzQxMzg2MTEyMjA0ODI1NjAyMDQzMDc5NDc5OTg. I don't understand these files. Is there another installer I can get, or how do I install these files? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That looks like a file that is hosed up.

Try to re-download it.  DAZ is (very slowly) moving to zip files.

As pointed out, you should have an innstaller. Right now the zips are only for the MAC files and they still contain installers.

For future refernce, I beleive the default location is C:Usersyour PCDocumentsDAZ 3DStudioMy Library. You really should know where any file is being installed in you system. One thing to help with this, is make a dummy folder anywhere, then install an installer into it and then manually trasfer the files where they are supposed to go. This will help you understand the file structure.

That seems to happen to the new zipped content when using Internet Explorer - try using a different browser (you don't have to make it your default if you prefer IE) to download. I think safari may also be affected - Firefox and Chrome should be OK. Note that if this is a zip, the files will be in a Content folder which you may not want - you will need to extract them from that and place them in your actual content directory, such as the My Library folder.

I only downloaded Skinmaps once, and when I went to download it again it showed that my downloads had expired, and I only had them for like 1 day. I like Daz, but it has been so screwy lately.

Were you using a download accelerator? Those can burn through your download attempts. You can of course reset from your Itemised Order History page (it's in literal alphabetical order by product name).
