Subject: Problem to render shadow over background picture

helderres ( ) posted Wed, 08 August 2012 at 7:09 AM · edited Sat, 10 August 2024 at 4:42 AM

Dear friends,

I'm with render problems.

I can't render the shadow over imported backgroud picture.

When I try to render the ground shows up too.

In poser 6 I could do it properly, but does so long that don't use Poser 6 which I forgot how to do it.

I am now using the Poser Pro 2012.

Can someone help me???

Bagginsbill has a shadow catcher freebie at his site and a lengthy description of it's usage... sounds like what your looking for in terms of proper cast shadows. Not sure about it's compatibility with poser 2012, though.

PP2012 materials have shadow catch built in. Turn it on for the ground.

It's on the PoserSurface node in the advanced material room. It's called Shadow_Catch_Only.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

Thank all of you for your attention and patience.

I was already a beginner with the Poser 6. With the Poser Pro 2012 I'm not understanding almost anything.

I should not have explained properly, (sorry my bad english).

I'm trying to render a Character (V4 and her shadow), over imported background picture, like the image attached, (which were created in Poser 6).

Now, using the Poser Pro 2012, I'm not able to do the same as I did in Poser 6. One of the problems is that after so long, I can't remember more as I did in Poser 6.

In these image I did not use photoshop. And in all other images that are in my gallery the shadows of Characters were designed over imported background picture, using only Poser 6.

Once again thank you very much for your attention and patience with this old beginner.

My answer is the same.

Please explain what you did not understand. I know what you're trying to do.

The solution is as I said.

(Bookmark for future reference)

I would have asked this eventually myself. :)

I forgot to post before but the bagginsbill instruction worked perfectly.

It is very simple to make and really works.

Thank You Bill
