Subject: Poser 8 Content question

mmoir ( ) posted Thu, 23 August 2012 at 9:20 AM · edited Wed, 22 January 2025 at 11:43 AM

Hi ,

I won Poser 8 in a contest here at Renderosity a couple of years ago and use it but not alot.  I installed it and got it running but didn't get all the figures installed. I download the Poser 6 legacy content and have that working in Poser 8 but I don't have access to the Poser 8 or Poser 7 figures.

Where can I download the runtimes for the Poser 8 & 7 Figures,Poses etc.  I looked at the Smith Micro site and couldn't find a link. I found a link to an Update but not the original Runtimes that I would need.   Also the "Contact Us" button wasn't working  which was odd.

Any help would be appreciated.

Mike

Normally, the content is available at the time you download the program itself. If you didn't download it then, then you may be out of luck. Those downloads are only available for a limited time. You could try contacting Smith Micro directly.

Did you get it via download or a disk?  IIRC there was a seperate content file if you got it via download, so make sure that it in the directory with the rest of the setup files.  If you have the disk, try running Setup and select the option to install the content...

OH! Are you using Windows Vista or 7?  If so, did you install the content in the recommended location, or into the Poser program directry (Legacy Option)?  That's a no-no due to UAC...

Hi ,

Thanks for the replies . I did download some stuff maybe not all of it, but since then I have a new computer so all the files may not be backed up onto disk. I do remember the downloads being time sensative or something which caused me to backup something.

I got Poser via the download option and I am using Windows 7.  I will try your suggestions but I have a feeling I will need to talk to Smith Micro.

Thanks,

Is the original download in you CP account history or do you have a copy of the receipt with the original download links to send to SMS?

If it shows up in your CP history, you should be able to buy the extended download service.  For a fee (last time I purchased EDS for software it was still under $15) you have unlimited downloads of the software for up to two years.

You may have to open a ticket as the EDS doesn't always show up in the catalog.

If it isn't in your history and you have the receipt, contact sales at SMS and ask if they will sell you the EDS.
