Hi Guys,

I am working on a new project and it will include about 20,000 2 polygon trees in this set divided into 8 different sections.  load as you need them in other words.

I have a winter theme and a summer theme and would like to apply an .mc6 to all eight forrests on the hills at the same time for ease of use.

This is to be able to switch back and forth between winter and summer with only two double clicks for the whole scene.

Is there a python script that will do this?

a script should not be difficult if all the props have an identifiable name.

something like this should work

 

import poser

scene = poser.Scene()

actors = scene.Actors()

for actor in actors:

   if actor.IsProp() and actor.Name().Startswith("Forest");

       actor.LoadMaterialCollection("/runtime/texture/myfolder/mymaterial.mc6")

print"Done"

tom, is that a photo or a poser scene? Is that really a render????

PS at rdna there is a really great script called advanced material manager

and if you ahve a ton of props and want to parent them all to say the grouping object all in one hit, then you really need advanced figure manager too.

And I can never be without my advanced library manager either.  so quick to load, parent and apply partial poses.

Hi guys and gals,

In retrospect I think the easiest way is going to be create a full set of trees so it will truly be easy, for those who don't want to mess with scripts.

I will have two ways to go when you load the scene.

One at a time / 8 separate props / for those very focused scenes or a put them all in there in one 12,627 tree prop and be done with it.

Just checked the max scene and there are 25,254 polygons which works out to

12627 trees. Not as bad as I thought.

So a single 25,254 polygon set of trees as another option is not that much of a load on resources.

Keep in mind though that they are trans maps.

Two options seems the best resolve. Unless there is a way to make a .mc6 that detects any props in the scene with the name "Forrest"

This set will also include

1 Property figure which includes 81 blocks that may be individually hidden or with several hide show poses that hide several in one double click.

Rows and columns may be combined as well for hide and show.

1 City Sky Dome that is 1.57822 miles in diameter. 8,333 feet across.

Estherau, that is how it looks like a photo as it is a photo on the dome. Many, many, Equirectangular images are free to use for personal use from Flicker.

27 Camera poses that have the distance set, so you don't have to worry about Poser not seeing that far.

There is also one camera view that you see all of the 81 blocks the way the thumbs show them so you don't get confused on orientation in the scene.

For purposes of placing your city blocks.

Want to keep it as simple as possible so people do not get lost in the woods. :-)

Oh by the way this is my new Movie Sets City Block background scene that will allow up to 81 city blocks in it.

Nine blocks long by nine blocks wide with 8 roads that go up and over the hills in the four corners.

City Block sets sold separately.

Also developing a new line of very " Low Poly Block " sets that are intended to use to fill in the outer blocks. 

One I have complete is only 958 polygons including the sidewalks curbs and street signs. 

Will not include the roads and 8 empty blocks like my Movie Set City Blocks.

Might even sell them in sets, now sure about that.

They will sell for much less as they are just the Low Poly Block.

No power lines as there would be no need really. Could always load one from another city block set if need be. Still working out the details on those though so things could change before release.

Have a new block placer that you can parent any one of my older city blocks to and move them beyond their limits of nine square blocks.

What's sad about this thread is the OP is a marketplace business partner of the guy who provided the solution.  So if he doesn't know about VSS, how many other's don't?

 

I really wish I had the time/motivation to get in and learn about vss and matmathic .

BTW your products are one of the few things my Debit Card never whispers in my ear, "don't buy that!" when my mouse hovers over the add to cart button.

Last one with the kids playground and the pool, V4. M4 are having a blast watching K4 at play in the scenes I am building up. Next up is a concert in the park in the theater behind the pool.

Ted is buried this weekend, chasing down bugs for his day job. I am sure he will help as soon as he frees up but if he does not have time, then my solution will work just fine.

Time will tell, as he does hover over this forum, like a wolf behind the henhouse.

Forgot to mention Geep, The old tree stump is about one block before you get to where the library used to be...  about two blocks past where the new library will  be built.....

You know right where Mable got hit on her Harley, while trying to find the library...

Almost done. Hope to realese in the next week or less. :-)

Here is a look at a winter test render seen with the included Low poly One City block in the background. It is about 950 polugons.

Even build some wet grass shaders and puddles in the grass shaders and much much more.

Even built a shader where there are puddles in the roads as well as in the grass.
