Subject: Cloth Room for Morph Target problem

3doutlaw ( ) posted Fri, 26 October 2012 at 12:42 PM · edited Thu, 26 December 2024 at 4:29 PM

I loaded the OBJ of a freebie shirt for V4, brought it into the cloth room, and gave it a nice fit for my character.

I now wanted to save that OBJ out as a Morph Target, so I selected only that "prop" on that single last frame, and File->Export->Wavefront OBJ

I've tried with no settings checked, and then with both "As Morph Target..." and "Include Existing Groups..."

In either case, I then load the shirt figure, conform it, then select Object->Load Morph Target

...it says the "Target Geometry has the wrong number of vertices"???  I used the original OBJ from that figure, and I didn't think the cloth room changed the vertice count?

I am missing something, any ideas?

That should work, exporting it with everything unchecked, try exporting it from frame 1 then from your last frame and see if they work together, if they do you should end up with the same result......Steve

I tried what you said above, but same result.

Just to check, I imported the original OBJ into Blender, and it imported into 2 seperate pieces....abdomen and chest (with vertice counts of 1826 and 2416, respectively).

When I exported the cloth room modified OBJ from poser, and selected the "As Morph Target..." and "Include Existing Groups...", I get the same output as the original (i.e. imported into Blender, 2 part, same vertex count)

Sooo...I have no idea what that means, but trying to give more info here!

I have no idea what goes wrong here. But why not use a simple Object!Spawn Morph Target?

looks to me like your shirt having 2 groups is the problem.  That error I would assume is because you are trying to apply the whole thing to one group which will cause problems because the vertex count is different.  Might be worth exporting the whole shirt without preserving groups and use that to drape.

ICBW though but I've had similar problems

I figured it out...there is a nice tutorial by Yanelis3d for free that explains this problem (just found via googling for an answer, while testing options).  Basically, I needed to spawn a chest and abdomen prop, and then export those as OBJ's, and load them as Morph targets to the respective Chest and Abdomen actors of the figure.

I'll look into that above...maybe I am doing it the hard way
