Subject: Installing Poser on a second computer

dnstuefloten ( ) posted Sun, 18 November 2012 at 11:16 AM · edited Sat, 04 January 2025 at 3:43 PM

I'm getting another computer, slightly better than the laptop I'm using now, so I want to put my Poser Pro 2010 on it. Two questions:

What do I need to do to install it on another machine? Do I need to de-register the current installed copy? How? Remove it? Slap it on the head with a baseball bat?

Secondly, I would dearly love to use the old computer for rendering. My videos can take several days to render, and while rendering it is almost impossible to use other programs or (of course) to work on other Poser projects. Is this possible, under the license? Is there some way to keep Poser on the older machine? Link it to the new one? Sever it from the internet?

I couldnt find anything on the Smith Micro website. I can query them, but I figured this is a quasi official forum and perhaps someone here could describe my options. I'd be grateful for your help!

You can install Poser 2010 on multiple computers. Just use the same licensekey

However - you cannot use them at the same time when they are connected in the same network.

An a positive note: You can use the second machine for rendering. Install the Queue Manager (you have PP2010) on the second machine and send the render to the queue manager from the first machine (turn off local jobs on that one)

Great! Thanks!

I've never used the queue manager, but when I get it all up and running I'll see if I can figure it out....
