Subject: Checker patterns

Still learning the very basics and have a couple of questions..
  1. I used Silo to make this.. then I used a checker map to apply to it and this is the result. My question is.. does this make any difference to texturing?

  2. Is it because I 'excluded' to take the cube top down to make an inner floor?

My thought was that they should all be the same size.. or near as.

Thank you.  :)

You need to Uvmap it. Lay it out so that the texture can be applied evenly.

Ahh.. so I can't do it before and expect to look right?

Thanks Cybermonk for putting me straight.  :)

Silo has some really good UVmapping tools. Checkout some of the videos on Nevercenter's site.  And there are some Tuts on YouTube for Uvmapping in Silo. Good luck and happy modeling :)

It kinda looks like the mapping was done all from one viewpoint (facing).  So there is stretching.

I would imagine the default cube has the traditional mapping and the extrusion, therefore, won't apply.

Pretty much what cybermonk sais, but you might want to change the layout to make it fit more economically
