Subject: 2_SkinHead vs. 1_SkinFace

I've started fooling around again in the Material Room--want to experiment more with the textures and bumps and displacements, to create more individualistic-looking people (like the attached head shot, a nocturnal creature who lives in abandoned buildings). In that wild and crazy room, however, I notice there are two skins for the face, and that the 2_SkinHead often uses the torso map. Why is that? If I change it to the face texture, I see no change when I render. What does the 2_SkinHead attach to? The top of the head? And why should it use a torso map? It offends my (easily offended) sense of logic.  Can someone clue me in?

Detach the image map from the skinhead and you will see exactly where that area is located.  Skinface is the actual facial features, no mistake why it is there.

Hah! I made the hair invisible, so now I see it--the back of the head and the ears, too, which I notice (finally) are actually on the torso map. Interesting. My sense of logic is no longer offended. Thank you!
