Just to update, one last thing we just know now:
Improved bullet simulation for soft bodies
Follow me at euQfiz Digital
This is all common knowledge, I showed what the new bullet physics could do, on the DAZ forum, 9-10 months ago. {soft cloth, not dynamic but drapes well for stills}. I spent 5-6 weeks trying everything I could think of to make the soft cloth behave like dynamic.
What I am saying is none of this is new to any one on the DAZ forum or using the C8.5 beta; which we have been waiting 8 month for the update that should have been out in a few days.
And release dates? Please, are you at all familiar with DAZ?
But C8.1 scenes open fine in 8.5. I've been using 8.5 exclusivly for, lol over a year lol
You know that means it will have been in beta for over a year and a half; closer to 2. Don't think "great they had to have fixed all the bugs". We haven't had an update in 8 months, and I am quite pesimistic DAZ has done anything with the beta in that time.

I seem to recall I had troubles. Then again I stuff as much info in as it can handle, as all my scenes are masses of models and the like.
Also I can't run with a beta where the licence keeps running out, I'm on this all day most days so I need something stable. And yes I've learned to live with any bugs so I live a fairly hassle free life :-D
Believe it or not, but a release date means that Daz has commited to release something, if that happens in time or gets delayed like many other software projects, I don't care much about. But the commitment to release and the commitment to include new functions is important.
Everyone seems to be forgetting that with Carrara 8.5 and Genesis support need platform work like DUF file format, Metadata, CMS, Daz Install Manager and other not so exiting stuff that should be counted into the development time since Carrara will need and use those.

9 months ago it was announced we would be getting an update to the carrara beta in a few days. Never got that update. Just because DAZ says something is going to be released is no reason to believe it.
3Drendero all that is done already, been using it for quite some time. Genesis works about as well as it is going to in carrara, as does auto fit and DUF/DSF.
CMS and DIM are completly different subjects for me. The only issue I have ever had with DAZ content is the installers. The last thing I want is DAZ downloading and installing my content for me. My studio content folder is all F'ed up because of DAZ's installers.
The last thing I need from DAZ is help dowloading and installing content. Right now it isn't an issue because it is not manditory, but I don't expect that to stay that way.
A while back when a DAZ_ said what was coming I went off, pointed out all the possable problems with it and was told I was wrong. So far DAZ has step right by the path I laid out and was told I was wrong. On the DAZ forum I can't tell you what is next but here I can. Yes that is an assumption but to date I have been right 13 out of 16 times.
Are you running CMS? Using you "smart content" tab? Get ready for the commercials because that is next {yes another assumtion}. And get ready for having no controle of your content, DAZ will put it where DAZ wants it. Doesn't matter how you have your content organized you will do it DAZ's way or else.
As far as I understand it from the forums, since the last time, there has been some changes in the staffing at Daz. I hope that the changes are for the better and that we will see the releases as promised.
All that has been done mentioned above, may have been done at the expense of Carrara development. For me as a layman it seems to be a simple decision to postpone Carrara for all the Genesis, Studio and Poser stuff.
Never got the CMS/Smart Content to work well in Studio, though I have problems with the old way too.
Re-installing on a new computer, so the DIM is a lifesaver, running 500 installers is not an option.
I'd rather install each one myself then have to sort out the mess of 500 installers from 5 different generstions is going to make. Good luck finding and having your content work after.
DAZ installers are why my studio content folder is fubared now.
Give me the good old fashion, no muss, no fuss, zip files. I know where my content is because I put it there. I know the content is right because I check it before I put it there. I work in my runtimes so they have to be organized. I wont even try to work in the cluster F studio content folder.
My runtimes look like a library, my studio content folder looks like a kids toy box. Everything just sort of tossed in willy nilly.
