Subject: PP2012 Clothify issue

Hi

I am trying to Clothify the Daz M2 Trench coat but I am having issues when I click the Clothify button.

The Coat is not listed even though it is selected?

are you checking the drop down to see if it is listed as a prop?

figures tend to have multiple material zones and they can get abit iffy to clothify if you dont shit it to a prop first.

The coat is a figure/character and not a prop.

The body and body parts are listed but not the coat.

I hope that makes sence.

You'll need to import the coat's OBJ file and use that rather than the coat figure.

I take it you don't have a high opinion of props...

You shouldn't have to clothify that coat. It's already a figure, which means all you have to do is load it on the model it was created for (M2?) and then conform it to them.

If I had a nickle for ever time a woman told me to get lost, I could buy Manhattan.

Okay one says that only props can be clothified (should I save the coat as a prop?

Another says I need to import the models object file to the scene then clothify it?

or both?

rokket ( ) posted Mon, 01 April 2013 at 7:28 AM

Export the .obj file of the coat, then re-import it back into poser. It's now a prop. Since you didn't make any changes to the .obj file, you should be able to reapply the materials to it. Then you can take that back into the cloth room and run your sim.

There's also an issue that many (most?) clothing figures will not clothify satisfactorily due to the way they're constructed. To be used as a dynamic cloth an object must be a single mesh (which is why most dynamic cloth is rather plain/ boring), while clothing figures often have details just kinda "tacked on" to the mesh that will just fall off once ya clothify the object, or even entire sections not properly welded.

By all means go ahead & try, but if/ when this happens... now ya know why it did.

That's what the constraint buttons are for in the Cloth Room.

Constraints will work to an extent, but if yr whole mesh falls apart when ya calculate draping... no amount of constraints will do any good.
