Subject: Poser library really slow...

xpdev ( ) posted Tue, 11 June 2013 at 1:12 AM · edited Tue, 29 October 2024 at 8:15 AM

Some time ago I asked for help for poser library which resulted very slow adding link to a new content.

If I add a runtime (regardless of its size) library poser can be up to one minute before making it available.

Some time ago someone gers to manually edit the file "LibraryPrefs.xml" and delete references no longer use.

I must say I never had beneficial effects.

The only way back to Poser load fast in the library .....

is to reinstall Windows 7 ... but I was not always a good idea ...

It almost seems that poser store somewhere the library data that obviously with time become huge and slow down the library.

Does anyone have suggestions ?

Many thanks.

Ok, updated

Adobe air to release 3.7.0.1860

Flash to release 11.7.700.202

Always slow loading of new runtimes.

I just done a test by adding a little runtime  (50 mb)

It's been 38 seconde before Poser add new runtime to the library.

Updates flash and air are not the problem.

Any other ideas?

Open the display options. If you don't know where they are, you should read the manual.

Turn off re-open folders - it's the option that remembers every folder you ever opened and tries to re-open them at startup. I don't remember the exact name of this checkbox, and I'm out of town for a week so I can't check in Poser as I don't have it with me.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

thanks bagginsbill

but "Re-open folder" is unchecked....

the trouble is not "Re-open".

Thank the same, you are great.

Is contents indexing enabled on the runtime folder, I think someone suggested this as a solution in another post (right click over folder and select advance)

I think I had this problem once and I not only deleted poser but I deleted all the preferences which I found in my application support folder (I'm on a mac) and that fixed my problem.

well I mostly use the advanced library manager by semidieu from runtimedna anyway, but i still wanted everything to work properly as it should.

I aim to update it about once a month.  Oh, and it's free!

xpdev - looking at your post again I think the indexing idea is probably not worth trying and can cause more problems than it solves.

Do you have a very large library which possibly Poser is trying to rescan for some reason?

May be the disk needs to be defragged.

xpdev has Windows 7 - no need to defrag the disk. Windows 7 does it in the background if needed. It should only be defragmented if someone wants to change the size of the partition.

The many problems users have with the library is not a Windows/ Mac problem, not a Antivirus problem, not a Firewall problem. The library is the problem.
