Subject: How to turn off autofit?

manleystanley ( ) posted Wed, 14 August 2013 at 11:33 AM · edited Thu, 21 November 2024 at 4:40 PM

This is being a freaking PITA. I have the new Dawn figure, I have clothes for the new Dawn figure, I can't put them on her with out autofit poping up and screwing them up. Is there any way to turn autofit off?

Clothes are just too costly for autofit to ruin them and make them unusable.

Dresses are dresses, not gauchos, not coolots, dresses and I wish autofit would leave them alone so they can stay dresses.

Uh...press cancel?

...or if that is not what you mean, (i.e. clothes made for Poser using in DS), I think you can get a similar "Conform To" using the Transfer Utility.

Yeah, I'm assuming Poser clothes in DS too.

Another thing that might work, is to load cloth over Dawn in default T-pose but without Dawn already selected in the scene tab... then parent-in-place to Dawn, and set collision item as Dawn in the garmet's parameters tab (it might need to have smoothing modifier applied before collision slider appears, can't remember without checking).

I must admit, haven't actually tried it myself, but it should work in theory.

Thanks for the suggestions but I am looking for an off switch, not some 7 step make it work tutorial; I do appreciate it regardless. I have to do far to much of that already. Seems I spend as much time working around DAZ features as working with them.

I've tried escape and cancle both leave the clothes warped badly; I don't know. There has got to be some way to just disable it. It shouldn't even be coming on for a non DAZ figure, more over it shouldn't be coming on for clothes that are made for the figure.

My opinion? Just another way DAZ is preventing me from using anything but DAZ content in a DAZ app. Simple as that.

And you all wonder why I am so down on DAZ. So basically anything I spend on Dawn is wasted money because she can't effectivly be used in a DAZ app. Fun, fun, fun.

I know, DAZ isn't actually trying to make their content and apps exclusive, it's just a coincident that it works out that way.

I have some beach front property in western florida, 5 acers in the okefenokee estates I'll let go cheep.

It is, what it is...good luck!

Quote - It shouldn't even be coming on for a non DAZ figure, more over it shouldn't be coming on for clothes that are made for the figure.

It'll do it for any TriaX weightmapped figure (simply pressing cancel might give result you want, but not sure if anything else is going on in background when you do that).

Now here's the kicker... Clothes made for Poser Dawn are NOT clothes made for DS Dawn, which is why the auto-fit kicks in.

The two Dawns are two different figures that look the same as each other, but they are still very much separate (the meshes are identical but the weightmaps for Poser and DS versions are totally incompatible with each other).  So clothes only made for Poser Dawn are actually made for a different figure, albeit with the same base shape.

I was wondering if following the videos hivewire provided - can Dawn poser clothes be converted for DS use?

Stan do you have the CMS running ?

manleystanley ( ) posted Thu, 15 August 2013 at 3:52 PM

You mean DAZ DRM, no. lol ;)

Seriously, I have no need of CMS, I know where my content is, I don't use DIM. :)

People, don't take me too seriuosly, I am a bad smart A ;)

If I was in a car wreck you could call me Snidly Whiplash lol ya, that one will put an age on ya lol

But the real problem is Autofit, since incept, can't do dresses. If I intend to use a dress I use V4, not G1. It appears I will have to do the Same with dawn, no dresses just pants. Which in no way stiefels my creativity.

If DAZ ever gets back in to activly developing apps, I hope they work on Autofit first. It has needed work since it was introed.

Note, I am working in carrara, but I tried to do this in studio 4 as well, same results. But it is quite clear I wont be able to use the dresses I got for Dawn, on Dawn. Thanks DAZ.
