Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 07 11:07 am)
You have to convert your M4 skin mats *.pz2 into *.duf via DAZ Studio. That's a piece of work that is only mentioned in a ReadMe that does not come with the product. :-) I hope you're familiar with converting Poser companion files in DS. You load Michael 4 in the scene in DAZ Studio (or Genesis if you want to convert M5 skins), use the texture on M4 you want to convert, then save as a *.duf file.
In Poser when you use Michael4forGenesis2MalePoser you only click that if you have loaded Michael 6. This will set the UV for maps on Michael 6 to Michael 4.
Then you can use your converted skin maps, the *.duf files, in Poser.
You cannot use Michael4forGenesis2MalePoser for anything else in Poser except changing the UV set on Michael 6 - his skin will change from grey to black after clicking Michael4forGenesis2Male.
If you want to convert clothes or uses shapes you must use DAZ Studio first. Here are the additional details: http://wiki.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/17664/start
thanks for reply
i have already done steps 1, 2 and 3 in Poser pro
M6 was with M4 uv on him usig DSON loader in the script menu (the shape change and uv is there)
Then I have tried to using DSON loader in script menu to load somes m4 mat.duf i have converted in DAZstudio (which were ok when i used them in DAZStudio on M6)
and nothing is loaded
Something i miss? where to put the m4 mat.duf in Poser folder ? How to put on M6 if DSON loader not works?
Thanks again
Martial
Yes you missed a few points.
If you create *.duf files for Poser in DAZ Studio, you
load Michael 4 and apply your chosen MAT on him. You SAVE that as MATERIAL PRESET. It converts into a *.duf file within the MY LIBRARY in DS.
Now you transfer these *.duf files via right click in DS' CONTENT LIBRARY and CREATE POSER COMPANION FILES. You should check on USE THIS LIBRARY AND FILE EXTENSION and choose POSE - PZ2. The SUPPLEMENTAL PATH is by default /DSON CONVERSIONS.
If you have located your DSON stuff correct to Poser then you should find in your runtime under Libraries->Pose a folder named DSON CONVERSIONS. In that folder you have a *.pz2, *.py and *.duf - file for the same product. But in your Poser library you see only one of them. You click that if M6 is loaded and the skin should apply to him.
No. But while converting Poser Companion Files in DAZ Studio besides a *.duf file there is also a *.py file created. The DSON Conversion files in Poser work like that: you click in your Poser library the *.pz or *.mc6 file that triggers the *.py file and that sets the *.duf file in motion. So Python is somehow used but without you having to work with a Python script.
PS: In the above comments I forgot to mention that skin MATs are converted either into *.pz or *.mc6 files when creating the Poser Companion Files in DS.
