Subject: Just bought Vicky 4.2 with the Morphs how to use download manager to install to

DreamlandModels ( ) posted Sun, 08 December 2013 at 6:06 PM · edited Fri, 24 January 2025 at 5:27 AM

I just build products for Poser but only use it with the default characters. Wanted to use Danae's wonderful girls in my product images but have no idea what to do the get them into Poser 2012 Pro. Went and bought Vicky 4.2 and the Morph ++ products but the download manager takes them into Daz of which I have no idea how to use. Please help me with a step by step okay?

Do you know where your Poser 2012 Pro Content Directory is?

Make a folder in that directory called Victoria4 or whatever

Now manually download your V4.2 files

unzip the runtime folder files to your Victoria4 Folder

Run DzCreateExPFiles.exe in Runtime/libraries/!DAZ Folder

open poser and add Victoria runtime

Just add the DAZ Studio content directory to your library as an external runtime.  I don't recall the default location offhand.

Alternatively, What I did was to create a folder as JimTS suggested, and added it as a DAZ Install Manager target folder; click on the gear at top right, and on the Installation Tab  at the bottom clicking on the+ sign will let you add a path.

You'll then need to uninstall what it installed to the DAZ Studio directory from the Installed Tab on the main window, go to the Ready to Install tab on and select your V4 directory as the path.  I've been told that you won't need to reinitailize after installing using this method, but I always do, as noted in JimTS's post.

BTW, if you are not using Studio much, uninstalling the DAZ Content Manager Service will save some memory, but won't affect DIM (at least for what I use it for, which is installing content for Poser)

Thanks guys. I tried your way wand and the installer put everything in my Daz folders so I just pointed Poser to the content folder in Daz and seems like everything is there.

Time will tell.

Thanks to you both for the help. :-)

You can point your installer to put them wherever you like or just put them in an untitled folder then change the name of the folder and put it where you want.  but if you do this name change method then your uninstallers from the DLM will never work.  that doesn't matter to me. I can run them manually.

I keep all my content in lots of external runtimes so it gets to much to make all those shortcuts in the DAZ DLM.

Hi Esther,

So please explain step by step how to install to a folder on my desktop with the installer from Daz called Download Manager, please?

I also have several runtimes on different hard drives that I point Poser to, just in case Poser goes funky on me.

Click the gear icon at top-right of the Install Manager interface to open the Preferences Click the Installation tab. Click the + button at lower left. Name the folder so you can pick it later. Click the ... button on the right. Select your target folder in the browser. Click Accept to close the Add folder dialogue. Click Accept to close the preferences. Click Show Details in the Ready to Install tab, if you've already downloaded the files, or check Install after download and then Show Details in the Ready Download tab if not. Make sure that your chosen folder's description is listed. Download/install the files.
