Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 24 4:22 pm)
That could be from several different issues. On your Face material in Reality, the hair mask should be checked, and the gain should be set to where in the small preview only the hair on the map remain (hair, eyebrows). That removes SSS calculations from the facial hair. The hair mask should not be checked on any other materials.
The official Reality forum is over at RDNA -

Thanks for your response Taren421. The hair mask looks like it was checked by default. I didn't quite understand what you ment by the gain but it is at 1.4. I was thinking about unchecking the hair mask to see if that would do anything. How ever let me know if you think it could be something els. Also, thanks for the Reality link.
If you change the gain & refresh the preview, you will see the B&W hair mask change. You want it to basically be blown out white, with only any hair showing dark, (eyebrows, or hair on the head if the texture has it). Sometimes if you check the hair mask box on the other materials (body, neck, etc.) it will show the redness you're having, from miscalculation of the SSS.

Unchecking that will remove all the Sub-surface scattering calculations, but that might also minimize the "realistic" look you're going for with Reality.
As I was familiarizing myself with the plug-in, I can't stress enough - read the manual. A lot of programs are easy enough to just jump in & Reality is actually one of them, but there is a LOT of good info in the manual.
Check out the Reality forum over at RDNA. Someone might have come across that same problem already, & if so, Paolo probably gave them some insight on how to correct it. He's really good about answering questions in the forums over there. If there isn't a post with your problem, just create a new topic. I'm certainly no expert, and it makes sense to get answers from the person who wrote the program if you can :)
