Subject: Why is this happening?

I import the suit into Poser.

I enter the setup room and apply Dawn's DEV rig

I got back into the pose room and click 'conform to' Dawn

And it explodes.

WHY????

If I had a nickle for ever time a woman told me to get lost, I could buy Manhattan.

Suggest that you now use the Poser figure menu to copy the joint zones from Dawn.

rokket ( ) posted Sun, 23 February 2014 at 8:06 AM

I'll try that. Thanks Phil.

Nope. Same result. I've never encountered this problem before and I don't understand what is causing it. It's pretty frustrating.

Is the suit correctly grouped?

Quote - Is the suit correctly grouped?

I used the option to group it according the the new bones in the setup room. I will try to autogroup it in the pose room and see what happens. There is a lot of geometry there, and I don't want to manually group it. But if I have to...

Thanks for the help, Phil. You are a saint.

Yeah, that didn't work either. I have a feeling I got something screwed up with the modeling and nothing is going to work because there is a conflict somewhere with my polygons and edge looping.

Is some of the geometry intersecting with other parts?

It was. I used the shell extrude function in Wings to create the chest, abdomen and crotch pieces. I went back in and scaled them away from the suit so there were no intersections but it still exploded.

Another thing to check.

Is Poser Skinning method set to Unimesh or Traditional Skinning?

Hmmm... how do I check that?

Top menu row

Figure => Skinning Method => Set to Poser Traditional.

If no go? Feel free to send the object file over.

I am running a render right now, so as soon as that is done, I'll check and let you know.

That option isn't available in Poser 9. So that's not it.

One more thing I am going to try: I am going to break the suit into 4 parts; an underarmor, an exoskeleton, boots and helmet and see what happens there. If nothing good comes of it, I will just scrap it.

I found an issue that may be behind the problem, but I don't know how to fix it.

The scale is set at 200% and I can't change it. I can make it bigger but not smaller. How do I correct this? Edit the cr2?

I think you need to check the export options in Wings.
Sorry, but I use Blender for modeling.

I did check all that. Everything imports into Poser just fine. There may be something wrong with Dawn's DEV rig, so I am going to take a look at that in my cr2 editor and maybe I can get this fixed.

I went over to the Hivewire forum and posted my problem there. It turns out that paganeagle2001 had already posted a fix to the problem. You have to click on 'include scales when conforming' or it explodes. Problem solved!
