I'm still using Vue infinite 9.5 and have never been able to figure out how to make a "shadow catcher" the way you can do it in Poser. Is it even possible without postwork?

In Poser I can render an object against a plane or the ground which are set as shadow catcher only. The plane or ground will pick up the shadow and you can save the object with shadow as a png image.

Is this possible in the latest Vue infinite 2014?

What effect exactly are you trying to achieve?

In a render I only want the object and the shadow, saved as a png image, as in the example above made in Poser. I have a plane behind the saddle to catch the shadow but plane does not show in the saved png image only the shadow cast on it.

I downloaded Vue 2014 free version and they have not implemented it.

There is a feature in Vue allow an object to only cast a shadow, but I don't think that's what you're after. When you select an object, under the material preview you will see a number of small icons. The one with the ball and shadow under it allows an object to only cast a shadow. The shadow catcher feature in Poser works differently though, but perhaps this can be a little help as well.

Due to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :(

Food for thought.....

Carrara had shadow catcher before it was Carrara (Ray Dream Studio).  DCG's plugin improved it even more.  Be nice if Vue had simple features that other apps had since the '90s.
