The Wisdom of bagginsbill:
"Oh - the manual says that? I have never read the manual - this must be why."I got her installed and got Dson importer installed.
It took a bit of work to get my brain to understand how it works in Poser but I did it.
Now when my eyes will let me I'll do some playing and renders.
Let me introduce you to my multiple personalities. :)

Here's my first test render without bothering to do any morph work. Instead, I tested PP2014's Pixar subdivision: 1 level in preview, 3 in render. Render took a while despite the size (not just due to subdivision; also had the render settings pretty high). Also used EZ-Skin, as usual.
I like having a variety of figures, so I can see myself using V6, especially since the Fitting Room helps allow existing clothing content to get used.

Can't ya transfer one character morphs to another in Pro 14
so ya could get Roxies ,V4's ,V5's morphs on to V6 and just save that morph to V6

Yes, PP2014 can transfer morphs. I'll probably try that, although with different topology etc I'm not sure it will turn out all that well.

Quote - I picked her up, since she was still free. Not too painful to use, either, though unfortunately I can't use my Genesis 1 (Evolution) morph pack with her. But I want to experiment with the PP2014 morph brush, anyway.

Just a note on subdivision:
Subdivision is just a smoothing algorithm, so setting it higher than 1 only increases render time, not detail. Setting it much higher would only smooth out detail as well. DAZ's HD tech would add detail on a higher subdivision level such as 3, but it depends on the product as it does not have to be that high.
Also Poser's and DAZ's implementation of the Pixar's subd spec is different, where Poser does not have the edge weighted creasing part implemented. This means that the more detailed a morph is, it won't be as crisp and detailed in Poser's native subdivision as it would be with the DSON importer's version. This is the reason why HD will only work the DSON importer, not Poser's subdivision.

You can use Dimension3D's GenX2 plug-in to transfer morphs from V4, V3, Gen1, etc, to V6/G2. But it's a plug-in built for DS so you'd have to use DS to transfer. Then you could port the morphs over via dson.
Poser's morph transfer could work for some of them but it won't do as well a job as the GenX2 plug-in will.

I'm not sure that's right - edge weighting is a base geometry thing, not a morph thing, as far as I am aware (that's certainly how it works in modo, and doing it in DS uses the Geometry Editor tool). HD morphs require an ability to read the data with the vertex positions for the SubD mesh, and to apply it, so it won't work on native Poser SubD as the new vertex information is not available nor code to apply it, not for the lack of edge weighting.
Quote - > Quote - Get back to me when the g-things work natively in Poser.....
Actually, it's quite easy to get a native Genesis (1 or 2) for Poser, but you'll have to embrace DAZ Studio long enough to load Genesis up and save it back out as a cr2 file. The other cool thing I discovered is that all DAZ scenes save as duf files, so DSON will load a complete DAZ scene into Poser. The biggest advantage of this is morphing Genesis and then using DAZ Auto-fit for clothes. Save it, load it into Poser. No messing around trying to conform it or run weight-mapped stuff through the Fitting room.
Is there anything special you need to do to load in a scene using DSON? I've only used it to bring in figures and clothing from the library.

Joepublic did a post a while back showing the difference between the HD and other morphs using the DSON Importer and Poser subdivision. You could see the slight differences between the two, but the HD on Poser's spec was basically destroyed and just looked like splotches on top of the base morph.
I downloaded/installed DAZ 4.6 Pro, V6, & Genesis 2 Starter Essentials ......alot of my .dsf files are missing, which is causing major probs...have done searches in my folders for them, but they arent there ...would appreciate any info on how to get them from DAZ, etc..(also tried uninstall/re-install)
dsf files missing :
Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library/People/Genesis/Genesis.dsf
/data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 2/Female/Morphs/DAZ 3D/Base/PBMNavel.dsf
/data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 2/Female/UV Sets/DAZ 3D/Base/Base Female.dsf
/data/Age of Armour/Subsurface Shaders/AoA_Subsurface/AoA_Subsurface.dsf
Quote - DAZ is moving away from .dsf files to the newer .duf format. This is to facilitate the importation of current content into Poser via DSON.
DSON is the native file format of DAZ studio. The duf files is the "user facing files" to access the lower level dsf files. The error messages basically mean that the files were installed incorrectly as the system can't find the base figures to load.
Unless you know how the internal workings of the format system works, it's suggested that you use the install manager to install the files as it's s shift away from how poser zipped files work. Manually copying and moving files when you don't know the set up will generally cause more problems, than setting up a directory for the genesis files, defining the location in the install manager then linking that in Poser.

the aoa is a separate d/l. "Subsurface Shader Base"
genesis 1 files are probably in the genesis starter essentials, separate d/l. "Genesis Starter Essentials"
i had some of these missing file messages when i was installing carrara, eventually figured out it was cms related.
don't know if poser dson needs the cms running?

The current versions of DS don't, but if you had an older version on that system previously it would have loaded Genesis at startup - that's the Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library/People/Genesis/Genesis.dsf call. You can kill it, if you want, by going to Edit>Preferences (or Apple menu>Preferences on a Mac0 and remving the load file option in the Start up tab

Wasn't trying to scare you away from V6 ,she's the best mesh DAZ has ever released.
Could play with her using DSON.No modeler needed.

To be honest I am lost with these Genesis-Victoria versions.
Now I see her for $0.00 on the site, (http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-6) but when I want to add her to my cart I get message: 'Maximum quantity for purchase = 1'. Yet, my cart is empty and I have mo Victoria6 in my runtimes or in my downloadable files.

The cart glitched when you added it twice to your cart. Make sure you're logged in, add anything else to your cart, then view the cart. You should see V6 added, then delete the other item out.

Same here. Tried what the other posted behind, and get "Maximum quantity for purchase is 1" error...

Actually there was another article that JoePublic made to make it simply a Poser CR2, not make it V4-compatible. IMO, if you're going to make it like V4, just use V4. There are some caviats to the native conversion there as well, but you don't need an external modeller to convert it.
I managed to get her (thanks Male_M3dia) buy picking something in the cart and adding her (provided I still have that "glitch"), deleted the first purchase and got V6, now needing to install the other things (Gen2 Essentials, etc, etc...). It's been a while since I dabbed into Poser after a long hiatus, and since I didn't receive anything from Daz about this free offer.
Oh well, at least I nabbed it.

It worked. I got the error message, but V6 was added to my cart all right.
Now installed and working.
Thank you.
For those of you using Poser with the DSON Importer, some basic tips.
Poser prefers python files in the base content folder so loads the PoserCF files better/Faster if they are there.
If you have Poser 2012 or 2014, make your Library panel external, this greatly speeds up load time (in fact it seems to do that with any native poser files as well.) .
The first time you load a Genesis or Genesis 2 figure after adding it or adding a new morph pack they load slower. After the first time they load significantly faster, unless you flush your DSON Cache.
Following those tips I get Genesis loading significantly faster than V4 with Morphs ++ and about the same speed as Roxie. (Of course YMMV.)
