Subject: Source for good textures?

Gator762 ( ) posted Mon, 30 March 2015 at 10:21 AM · edited Wed, 20 November 2024 at 2:35 AM

Looking for a good source for textures.  Particularly high quality, after my previous attempts I'm pretty sure I'll need to buy it.

Not too be too long winded, I've had a hiatus for a while from Poser.  I'm back Posering now, so forgive me if details are fuzzy.

I'm looking for high quality textures.  From prop materials like walls & floors to textures for V4 wear...  Cloth patterns, fishnets, etc.  I've searched free stuff in the past, sometimes come up with OK stuff, usually not high resolution.  An issue I had hunting for free stuff is images weren't very suited to tiling (highlights from flash).  Another, for example, looking for Asian cloth patterns and finding next to zero use able there.

There were a few sites where you pay a subscription like shutterstock?  Seamless is a preference, if I'm gonna pay for it less work is very desirable.

Try Nobiax's textures. While they won't help you with clothing, they should help you a great deal with environment (walls, floors, trees, ground, etc).

Filter Forge is also on sale for 1 more day. Pro can be had for $79 (normally $399). https://filterforge.com/

Parrotdolphin here has some very good shader/textures that can be used for floors, walls, metals and an oriental set to boot.  If you search for EZMetals, there are some damn good presets for metals as well.  I use them often.  RDNA, in the forums which you'll have to search for, has some great (and free) shaders for velvet, metals, and tutorials on how to do a few things in the material room on your own.

Just be mindful of any copyright restrictions posted by either the sites or individuals; they might be okay for personal use but not okay for commercial distribution.

It's still a hobby, I'd like to see if I could make a few $$ to offset what I've spent but not worried about it.  In short, there is a potential for commercial use.

a free alternative if cash is limited, theres a LOT of choice these days and making a texture seamless is a pain but not that hard

A good reason to be mindful of copyright restrictions. Even if something is designated as a merchant resource, some venues where you might sell may also require you to declare if any portion of your model doesn't belong to you 100%. You might want to keep a custom read me with your source files, and document where you get things, just in case that happens.

I do. I've had FF since version 3 (they're on 4 now with full/upgrade preorders being taken on 5). I get some good usage out of it due to its massive library of filters that you can freely edit, redistribute (after editing, don't distribute back on the site as-is), use in commercial works, etc. A lot of the filters available are seamless, and you can render out multiple maps (diffuse, bump, etc). It can be quite a powerful tool once you get a handle on it. Even more powerful if you can learn its node system.

This is a great thread guys ... let's keep it going with ... body textures, whether MRs or raw.  We can all use as many different sources for our renders as we can get!  :) Oh, and another point, we can suggest software aides as well, if we sell them all the better, but that isn't necessary. ;)
