The tutorial was to help, not to insult anyone and we are sorry if that is how it was taken.
We know this was a big change and things are placed differently and it was to help let you all know where to find things now so time was not spent trying to guess where something is now.
Again, we do apologize as it was to help...not hurt.
Warmest Regards,

@AliceFromLake, we are working to fix the text description for the Gallery images. And, Sections and Genres are still there like before. By the way, I LOVE your gallery and I'm one of your followers.

Just an update on where we are today: The site security notices from your browsers may happen on a few pages outside of the Marketplace, but the security is really only important in the Marketplace and we are working to fix those notices on the community pages. It's a bit of work since we converted the entire site to https, but some images or ads were uploaded as http on our old site and it can take some time to correct those as we come across them. The artist homepage links now go to the proper place. FreeStuff button/links works. White pages/upload issues should all be resolved now. And, the premium tutorials/videos are all working. Profile Avatars and the date picker in the profile are working and ebots should all be sending again.
The gallery image size allowance will be updated soon to allow 4000x4000 full size images (like the old site). But please remember that those large images will still be re-sized for the gallery page layout and members will have to click on them to see the full size (and likely have to do a bit of scrolling). We are also going to bring back the ability to auto-create a thumbnail for you. That may be several business days before we can get that working well. Many of the auto-create thumbnails from the old site are some of the fuzzy thumbs that members have been complaining about, and members are encouraged to update those.
We didn't remove gallery images, but it took a while a move them all over and some may still not be displaying properly if the original full size was over the 1200x1500. We are working on that and hope to have those properly displaying the larger image sizes soon. And, the writerโs gallery has been updated to allow 25,000 characters.
Chat will be back (probably next week) but it was not technically compatible with our new back-end servers/software and is getting worked on. There are a lot of little things being worked on and several that were already resolved.
Please continue to send us links and screenshots of any weirdness you encounter, and we will be glad to look into it and fix bugs. We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding while get the kinks worked out.
@Fabi, you know I love you and I hope you know we are working hard to behind the scenes to get the issues resolved. (I haven't gotten your email that you were sending me).

What would "help" would be to LISTEN to your community, and undo this unbelievable mess. What "hurts" is the fact that the powers-that-be at Rendo have - and continue to - completely disregard our concerns - both as artists and vendors. There have been literally hundreds of comments regarding things like the minuscule restrictions on gallery images (which is a BIG concern in case you hadn't noticed), and the multiplicity of issues that have been mentioned numerous times. It's like we're all shouting into a vacuum.
We don't need a tutorial, no matter how well intended. What we need is someone (Rendo's staff) to LISTEN TO US, and act like they care about this community even a little. We are reaching for reasons to stay, and we are coming up empty-handed. People here are angry and frustrated that our concerns are falling on deaf ears - or that Rendo's attitude is simply " like it or leave." Is that what you want? For us to leave?

Apparently you posted this while I was typing....
THANK YOU!!! Thank you for the update, and THANK YOU for reinstating the 4000X4000 image size! I will look forward to seeing this implemented as will many others.
I know it will take some time to work out all the bugs. I was on the verge of leaving, but I'll hang loose for a couple weeks and see how this all works out.
Again, THANK YOU for listening to your community.

You are very welcome. The 4000x4000 size is live in the gallery now......so RodS, maybe you could update your 1200x1500 gallery image (if you're not leaving...yet)? I love your work and would hate to see you leave
Regardless of what some people may think, we are listening and we are working to help resolve as many issues as we can as quickly as possible.

Laurie, I would kiss you right now with a BIG and loud latine kiss on your cheek...
Same for Mr. RODs, my Peggy and all these people that shown support.
We want to be in this ship, I DO LOVE this place and hurt my heart to see people mocking and bad mouthing.
We put blood here. We don't leave. We want the things fine for everyone.
I am patient. I can understand things happen. Sure I do. So is GOOD to read Jenifer, is like fresh water now.
You know how my feelings are, Jenifer, you more than anyone knows it...
Btw, I did sent the email... and to Jenn and Tommy too... even sent one to Hope regarding this thread. No one was answered so far and I don't find the READED mark on these anywhere, at least the ones sent via sitemail. Maybe a thing to check also???? Dang!!!!
Let's have some rest and the flags up as we say here.
I will try to stay positive as much as my blood pressure allows me :D
See you around.

I was noticing on some of the existing images in my gallery will display properly if the vertical dimension is greater than 1500, but the ones that are over 1200 wide do not. I tried a test upload of a photo (panorama) that is around 3950 pixels wide. It uploads fine, but would only display @ 1200 px.
I see in your message above that this is being worked on, so hopefully that will be corrected soon.
The image you referred to has been updated! LOL Thanks again for keeping us updated.

Hi folks-
Honestly, I just wanted to help you out by creating a tutorial that helps you better navigate our new website. I know it can be confusing versus our old website and things have changed dramatically. I completely understand that, so as the community manager, a tutorial needed to be made.
Thank you!

A tutorial. I am utterly flabbergasted just like everyone else.
I've seen terrible web designs, let's face it we all have, but this has to be a first. A website so non-intuitive and confusing that the designers are making a tutorial to navigate it??
Okay, so Renderosity needs to redesign the website so it is mobile compliant to make Google happy, okay fine. I still do not ever recall seeing other websites re-design themselves in ways that a tutorial was required.
Since Google is evidently the source of this change, why not follow their lead? A minimalist approach that emphasizes functionality rather than jamming everything together like Tumblr just vomited everywhere.
The problem is not that we can't find our way around and need a tutorial to do this. The problem is we don't like what you've done with the site - The HUGE adverts especially in the marketplace and galleries are so distracting that no one can focus on the product or artwork. Have you never seen an online gallery before???? Sure, there may be recommended images/products but they are much smaller and unobtrusive. How many times do people have to tell you that they don't like the Markdown coding for the forum? And yet you insist on implementing something that most people need to look up in order to use instead of something more intuitive like we had before - that's progress and improvement? Personally I can't be bothered to click on the new quoting reference now because it takes me to another post and then I have to scroll to find the post I was reading and it's a total waste of time. If it's not placed legibly in front of me I won't bother reading it. I can't be bothered to learn Markdown so I won't format my text and probably make it difficult for others to read but I come here when I have free time and not to work at reading and using the forums. If I have to put in so much time and effort to contribute to the forums, gallery and freestuff of this site then I'd be better off charging for it.
@4222703 .. Understanding your good will Hope
All new re-designed sites take time to get used to navigate .. without any tutorial needed. .. The little pop-ups are great already :)
Most members are around for years .. and yeah it will need time to get used to the new navigation and such .. But with some patience we all get there :)
I've been around long enough to see both DAZ3D and RuntimeDNA change their site's multiple times, never needed a tutorial to figure out those new layouts. Hell, I've never needed a tutorial to figure out how to navigate a website I've never used before either.
If Renderosity really needs one, then maybe Renderosity needs another site "upgrade" (you can call it an upgrade, I'll call it a downgraded mess), focused on USABILITY and EASE OF NAVIGATION.
The sentiment of trying to help is appreciated, but it's something that should NEVER have needed to be considered.
Sadly, TPTB at Renderosity have a history (I'd show at least one example, but I can't seem to find any of my posts prior to this site "upgrade" under my Forum Stats) of giving us patronizing "Try it, we know you'll love it once you get used to it" responses (every unwelcome update, always the same response; it's like a broken record), and a few major issues get addressed, but precious little else, and we're just expected to shut up and "enjoy" ourselves.
Though I must congratulate Renderosity on one thing: I've been posting again after having stopped when the last Forum borkening made me decide to minimize my time here. It won't last though, if the site continues on as it is, I won't be posting again. And once I've cleared out my wishlist, either through purchasing or deciding I don't need something, I'll drop this site like a rancid corpse.

If you're joking that's just cruel, but if you're being sarcastic, that's even worse.
Hey everyone-- Members have been requested we create a tutorial since before this new site. It's mostly for the newbies who do not know how to navigate through our new site. They feel lost because they've never been, so in order to avoid confusion-- along with the members request-- we made this tutorial.
Thanks!

What Agent0013 said..... This site is the laughing stock of the entire internet Art Community. Yes, it's being talked about and in a big way. Nice work, Rendo Staff!
Fabi and P3D - your stuff is good enough that I for one will follow you anywhere should you bail from this sinking ship.
