Scene rendered as test for my SuperShaders, light comes from background, no environment sphere.
Amazing!
Another render showing some SuperShaders like Plexiglass, Translucent Cloth, Painted Wood, Broken Glass, Hammered Metal, Satin Bump, Chrome, Antique Brass, Transparent Plastic, Glossy Tiles, Obsidian, and Light Bulb (it's a shader, not a light :) )
Stonemason's Level 019 model: circa 2004, it came with P4, PP (Poser 4 Pro Pack), and P5 materials. Re-MAT-ed with Superfly materials, including lights which actually cast light. This is a screen grab; it's still rendering.

Superfly adaptation of Uzilite's Liquid Knight armor and of Stonemason's Urban Future building model. The luminous dials and meters on the armor are animated; I also have animated pulsing beacons and flickering strobes for the buildings. I gave the armor green & amber "techno pixie" color scheme.

I've been using Superfly for about a week now and cannot see those IDL shadow problems at all with it. It is a completely different way to render a scene and you have to re-learn lighting and mats a bit.

@Misty Superfly doesn't have smudgy shadows like Firefly. Your Nemesis will be graininess, as with all physics-based renderers. You have to give the the render enough samples (render time) to get the render to crystallize.
Yes, the pixie and the stream of pixie dust are active lightcasters!

Can somebody please god not render women that look like grinning serial killer mannequins or high end premium sex dolls. Lol. At least with limitations in realistic rendering in Firefly you don't fall flat faced into the uncanny valley... with superfly it becomes glaringly apparent that Poser Human models aren't up to the task. Seriously, no insult intended whatsoever, but these images are just plain grotesque. Which in of itself wouldn't be a bad thing if it were intentional... Is it Superfly or just a really expensive sex doll? Lol.
It's called frustration. You work hard, but come payday, you rush over to those sex-doll websites where you soon come realise you need to work even harder because the price of those things creep-up faster than you can earn it. Lifes a bitch, but for what it's worth, I completely agree with your rant.
That said, I can see the seam on her leg, so you're a fine one to be lecturing people about realism ;-)
Lol. Thanks. My Poser/Forum frustration neurosis has run its course. Busy with other things.
Bye.

I'm rather new to SuperFly, having just spent the first three or four weeks updating my shaders/textures to work well with it and experimenting with render settings to find that perfect balance between speed and quality. I've also been working on a Christopher Reeve face morph for Genesis 1, and this is me testing it out with a straight-on portrait of him. I applied a slight Gaussian blur to even out the slight graininess that GPU rendering tends to yield even at fairly high quality, at least in scenes with a significant amount of indirect lighting.
Feedback is welcome!
Here's a character I'm working on for the next volume in my medievalesque fantasy series. The face is largely dial tweaks. Skin is modified from the DAZ Maya texture. The hair is a bit of a work in progress in the Poser Hair Room. Rendered in Superfly, no postwork.

Ghostship2 she looks really cute! And I have a couple of questions that you might know the answer to-- first, when I render Pauline I get the SSS making the eyebrows too reddish--it is possible to mask them off with a map and attach that to the SSS node so it won't calculate scattering there?
And a SUPER STUPID QUESTION where on her face map are her lacrimals? or is it on a different map?
if you look at my render you can see they are just sort of default pink..are they part of the "inside eye" blobs?
Thank you for any help!

Bopperthisjs has a new EZSkin3 plug-in that does SSS and gets around the eyebrows proceduraly using a red filter.

I'm not sure where her lacrimal gland is on the texture maps someone else might know but it's is probably one of those blobs on the eye texture map.
