We're looking into it. They've been banned so if anyone else gets something similar under another name let us know here or sitemail one of us. Sorry that happened.
Thank you so much, Kendra! I really appreciate your taking care of this matter in an expeditious manner.
Sorry, I posted this in the wrong part of the forum, so you can remove my duplicate in the CHANGES (choosing options) topic thread.
Can we have a choice to NOT allow followers? I had this person **KristiTaylor5 **
https://www.renderosity.com/?uid=863861
who joined the other day and I thought she might have been someone from the DAZ group. NOT... it's a URL for explicit photos which are in your face when you click and my stepson was sitting near me...yikes!
Anyways, she has reached over 7500 by choosing to follow. How? I thought you would be safe-guarded from bots etc.
Help!
I got a follower that I keep getting this porn stuff sent to my email. so to remov it I had unchecked all renderosity content notification it was filling my email box up with pron the persons name is TracyMixon8 profile https://www.renderosity.com/?uid=863843 there appears to be no way to block her from following me. so turning off email notifications as my only option . I won; provide the porn URL its in her profile though
i also seem to just have gotten my private little stalker. if you can call private someone who follows 7405 people... i just asked them what the hell. and i guess it's the same kinda user as above. there is an url on their profile but i didn't click, it's a weird tinyurl or something i don't trust.
user is JolettEllis3

I had a notification of a follower. I never posted here. I never posted in the galleries. I never did anything but buying products (926, not as much as elsewhere, but quite a bit).
Your database is hacked. Again. Reading the thread about cc-fraud: cc-information is hacked. Again.
I will now take a look, if there are any updates of products, I bought here, download them and then want to have my account deleted.

Because it's obviously easier to hack a database than create a normal user and use that to follow people

I'm no native english speaker, so I dismiss irony more than sometimes, but the simple fact is: following "me" needs access to the customer-database, not some scripts which follow postings in the forums and galleries. A "normal user" has (or should have) no access to the customer base-database and has no 7.000x followers in one day.
But I'm gone anyway.

Actually a well written script can follow a few thousand users a second. I'll let that sink in.
This not a case of needing to hack the database, it's using the sites own following mechanisms against the site itself.
I have found all clones and banned them.
Please keep your eye out and let me know if any others surface.
Just so you all know, this has nothing to do with anyone getting hacked and information (of any kind) getting compromised.
As of August 2015, we have upped our security to the highest level of security. Files get overwritten with each update (which can be up to 3 times a day), credit card information is not stored anywhere on our servers, we added the secure https to every web page, we store all files on the cloud so they are not on our database, and we go through paypal to process ALL payments whether it be credit card or paypal.

A suggestion for Rendo staff: FORCE your programmers to institute Recapcha (whatever it takes to make them do it tomorrow-- the longer you wait, the more community members you drive away, no Christmas eve excuses!!) in order to create an account or send a PM, and you will kill this thing instantly. What you are doing right now is like putting a band-aid on a sucking chest wound. Plenty of websites already require Recaptcha before doing just about anything short of downloading.

Let this sink in: I never posted on the forums, never posted in the galleries, never did anything to interact with the community, I only bought stuff from here. Show me a script which uses "own following mechanisms" on someone, who never leaved a trail to follow. Realitätsverlust.

You are on the site. They did not pick you out because it's you. It picked out a Random user. Nothing more.
Don't confuse this with intelligence. It's a script, a bot, nothing more. Heck, I could have followed you, just by going to the who's online function (in the toolbar, go look) then following you from there. Yes. You do appear in that function soon as you log in to use the store.... There's your "trail" right there.
It's that simple.

Thank you for your explanation! Because I never interacted before with the community I didn't know that it's so easy to lay a trail.
We do require users to verify their email address and we have a recaptcha on this page as well.
We are very sorry for any inconvenience. They are all banned, I realize their profiles are still showing and this is something the programmer is aware of and will fix as soon as he can.
If you look at your followers list and the "unfollow" is not showing, they are no longer following you, if it is showing, click that and it will remove them from "following" you.

wouldn't the unfollow be for those who you are following rather than those who are following you? I see in my follower list either the follow or unfollow button, depending on whether I'm following them back. And MarySilva5 still has the follow button available on my list.

@RedPhantom - There are some kinks with this feature that I talked to the programmer about yesterday. They are on your list however since they are banned, they should not be on either list.
@rathbaster - This member was found when I announced I banned all the clones associated with the original one. Thank you for double checking
@alliekatblue - This member was also found when I announced I banned all the clones associated with the original one. Thank you as well for double checking with us

I just received a very sexually suggestive sitemail here on Renderosity and would like to have an admin contact me about it so that the offending member can be kicked off the site and banned. Thank you so much! Anim8dtoon
