Subject: Texture help. Transparency question

FightingWolf ( ) posted Wed, 09 August 2017 at 1:12 PM ยท edited Fri, 06 December 2024 at 4:11 PM

I'm trying to apply a texture to a primitive shape where half of the primitive shape is visible and the other half has a 50% transparency. Is this done with transparency maps or is there another option that can be done in Poser Pro 11?

Thanks

It's done with a transparency map. Half your trans map will be white.. the rest gradually going to dark grey up to the point of transparency that you wish.

Yep, a transparency map would be the way to go... white is solidly visible and black is fully transparent/invisible and shades of grey give partial transparency, depending on how gradual you want the transition to be from visible to transparent. You'll want either full white/nearly black with the map slit 50/50, or a gradual fade from white to dark grey or black dependent on how transparent you want it to become and where...

Thanks I appreciate your help. Now all I need to do is create a thigh high sock texture and I think I'll be good to go. I'm 80% percent of the way to being really happy with creating textures for clothing. I must admit that it's not as bad as I thought it would be. I thought it would be a big pain to do, but I'm enjoying the little bit that I'm able to do.
