Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 6:06 am)
Couple of questions for you, Ero...
When will this version be available for buyers of the Early Edition? Will the naughty bits be included for buyers of the Early Edition, seeing as how they were included in that one?

Thanks guys! :)
@SamTherapy, sorry. Its been out for a while! I forgot to add some vital info. A lot of people never got their notifications from the other store due to spam filters etc. Please contact me on the other site for more details. Here is some general info I should have added here:
We're moving from the experimental "Early Edition" to an official version here. Please bear with me :)
Project Evolution has evolved into Project Evolution ONE, Project Evolution ONE X (addon), and **PE Futagirl **(addon). But PLEASE READ properly because I know that some changes could cause a panic, but everything still works the same way etc. All morphs and content and textures will still work perfectly. Read below for more details.
Since the Early Edition, I grew satisfied with how she performed, but I saw the need to organize the product in a more traditional way. To accommodate for various markets, product control, tastes and our younger folk, I thought it would be appropriate to split PE up into the more usual Poser figure format that we're all used to. A 'family-friendly' base, and the gens is now an addon. Don't worry they're intercompatible!!! Morphs made for PE ONE will work on PE ONE X and vice versa*
Project Evolution ONE is now the new base figure. Project Evolution ONE will be available across three stores, but the ONE X addon and the Futagirl addon are exclusive to my home base for obvious reasons. (btw, ONE X addon uses the Early Edition base mesh, but is laden with naughty morphs, like the typical Poser gens addons normally are.) Futagirl will be a very specialized fetishist figure and although clothes would still work, custom morphs and textures could get tricky. So its entirely up to vendors to want to support that figure. Those customers would love it though, lol. But this was the general idea with PE in the first place to have wild variants that would work with each other to some degree (a fine example of 'Poser geografting' lol). I even wanted to try a mermaid, a demon and an angel, but I'll leave that to another time.
The ONE X Addon is available. Futagirl will come later.
EARLY EDITIONERS will NOT have to purchase PE ONE, they should have gotten an update. They will however have to purchase ONEx and/or Futagirl if they want all that, but they should have gotten a discount along with the announcement. Email me if you missed it. People that got PE from me, email me too!!
There was a lot more I wanted to do but I needed to focus on getting a foundation sorted out, partly by getting her in all these stores. Other stuff might come at some point, but we'll see how things go.
Here is a new PDF with some extra information about some of PE's little secrets that some of you might not have noticed before, and a little more emphasis on the whole subject of JCMs and how we really, really, need to start pushing for more control on them in Poser. (that is a dropbox link, there might be a download limit on it)
/* with exception of the genital area obviously.
"The fool is not the one that does something foolish, but the one that does nothing at all."
Out now? Yep, on sale here and at CGB but nothing in my account about a new download, there's just an announcement saying "available to existing purchasers soon", or similar. Still, I'll mail yer there.
No naughty bits? Boo hiss. Discount? Yay! Sort of. A discount is nice but, as a vendor myself, I wouldn't expect my customers to pay extra for what they already bought in an older version but was omitted in an update. Yes, I'll buy it but with a bad grace.
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
Update: Went over to Renderotica and saw the update. I'll withdraw my remark, since it's a considerable step forward from the original morphs. And then some.
Never yet made any "adult" renders but, as someone famous allegedly said, "Be prepared".
I still want a bleedin' discount, though.
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
Further update:
Saw a thread at CGBytes, advising to reset the downloads, so now I have the new version. Unfortunately, the discount coupon is out of date. Any way I can still qualify for this?

Thanks Sam for this post. I too have been waiting for an email, however got her now.
Improvement means change. Change need not mean improvement.
I use Poser 12.0.757, 11.3 and or 2014, on Win10 64bit.
I think there's a tutorial on converting clothes but I haven't yet tried it. Poses for V4 don't work well with PE. Not yet tried poses from other figures.

I am just afraid that support for her will die down. I already got so burned with Scarlett! For some of us, the price is rather high... but I am sure she is worth every penny. How easily can V4 stuff be coverted to PE? And what poses work, if any?
I probably should hold my peace but I have to take issue with the statement that the price is 'rather high'.
I'd say the contrary, that the price is rather low for whats included. Many 'characters' for other figures are nearly as much by themselves and Evolution comes with several characters built in, not to mention great quality textures/shaders, a very good hair and diverse poses. Aside from clothing I would be surprised if I need to acquire add on product for a few months, and when I do the products I look at will have a pretty high standard to live up to whats included in the base set.
Its a fair concern about 'support' (but I'm not beating that dead horse :) ) but if 24$ is outside your budget then one of a few things is happening;
btw 'you' is used in the general sense and is not meant to make any specific suggestion regarding the poster to whom I replied for this post.

@Sam: I'm glad you sorted it out! I messaged you back about the coupon.
@meatSim thanks :)
Yes it might seem strange for Early Editioners to get updated with a 'family friendly' version when you had the whole 9 yards before, but:
For the record, the reason the coupon expires is because I do want to prevent people abusing it. So I will make a new one if more people have missed it.
Yes support will probably be an issue for a while. PE is pushing some 'fairly complex tech' (in Poser terms, ahem) (that you as a end-user won't really have to deal with) that will be a challenge for some vendors to deal with. But like I said before, there are definitely ways to deal with it and we are thinking of tricks to speed things up. Here is an example of how fast it can be. But make no mistake, SM/Poser Team do need to start pitching in with certain improvements at some point. I cannot fix all their issues myself lol.
And yep, I did make the package as cheap as possible because it is a very experimental figure. And I did it as a whole package with a crazy amount of options, and not in bits, because I'd rather that people see the big picture immediately, than miss out on all the great options because budgeting. I didn't see the sense in selling a new figure without all the options to people that probably have super kitted-out V4s already.
At the end of the day, I really hope you guys enjoy it, because that's what she it was ultimately made for.
"The fool is not the one that does something foolish, but the one that does nothing at all."
@hmatienzo I've been converting V4 content for my comic characters (Erogirl figure, similar to Evolution) for years. Its not that hard, depending on the item. Tops and tshirts are a piece of cake, but jeans can be tough. I am working on mannequins to help speed this process up. They're already available but they need updating a.s.a.p. Once they're updated, I can publish a tutorial. There is already one available with the current mannequins but it all needs improving. I'm also hoping that SM will listen to my requests for certain improvements in Poser.
So stay posted! :D

@erogenesis -
Many thanks. The figure, btw, is beautiful. Absolutely the best I have seen in Poser.

A quick render with one of the usual suspects. I made PEOne a little heavier, more in line with the "average" look, or so it's said to be. What really surprised me is the figure looks very much like someone I know.

- You are using pretty low quality assets in your 3d renderings
- You are finding non monetary ways of acquiring commercial quality assets cough cough torrents cough
- You are making your own content or doing your own improvements to freebie/bargain bin quality items to get decent quality out of them.
btw 'you' is used in the general sense and is not meant to make any specific suggestion regarding the poster to whom I replied for this post.
Okay, yes, let me rephrase that! It is high for -me-, being on a very limited income. Sometimes, it's just easier to spend a fiver than a twenty, LOL! But I think I am more worried about support stopping as it did for almost every third-party beauty. But then, this package is big!!
L'ultima fòrza è nella morte.
I purchased a PE a while ago and always wanted to play with it, but haven't had a chance. Lately I finally found the time to tweak with my custom morphs (ZBrush & Blender) & built-in morphs and render. I had a good time working on this so I thought I'd share the image I rendered.
Big thank you to Erogenesis for producing a great figure and Biscuits for making the skin available on the market for a hobbyist like myself to use.

Looks real nice winston. :)

No, just a reply to an old thread.
If I had a nickle for ever time a woman told me to get lost, I could buy Manhattan.
This is a Standalone model , Doll base I since release wanted to start supporting and I am rather surprised that it never happen ! It has so much Potential and honestly would of had allot more then La Femme ever would of had , just the issue is that when a model comes from an other place then the rendo Community it usually gets smashed down. It is a little like the Italian Mafia in here ( Don't really care about the quality it would bring but rather the Cash ! ) it already happen to many other models that were built coming from other Places. Ok except of the V4 flagship without her Poser would never of made a big success! But anything else would only cause that the rabid Rendo animals would jump out of the Woods .
Sure also Dawn a absolutely great figure but Not Rendo ! So they rather Promote La Femme , I quote a Funny Phrase I was reading in the Past in these Forums " A Plane could fly between her Legs " then other models that could of had way more Potentials.
I do not have allot of time with all the projects I have but if I find a moment going into supporting a doll then sure will give it a shot with this one :) Great work "erogenesis"

I'm probably going to regret answering this but (sigh) here goes...
You really should read up on the history of this figure before you start spouting as to the reasons why it's not well supported. It was originally intended to be sold here but for a variety of reasons - which I'm not party to - Ero decided to move it elsewhere. As for non Rendo figures not being well received, I submit any and all of the pre DAZ Studio only figures as counter argument. All the Victorias, up to and including 4, Aiko in the original Steph derived version, Aiko 3 and 4, Stephanie, Steph Petite, Steph 4, Millennium Kids, Mike 1, 2, 3 and 4 and so on have always been well supported across the board.
Me, I like PE and use it a lot on the rare occasions I render human figures. La Femme, I also like but tend not to use as much, which is no reflection on the model or Gabe, who I hold in high regard. Dawn is, well... Dawn, I guess. Not a bad figure at all, and also one I like to use from time to time.
As for Poser's success - or lack thereof - it was doing pretty well long before V4 arrived. DAZ and Poser in general were doing ok from all the previous iterations and the other DAZ figures. V3 was seen as a slight misstep by many but it still sold well and allowed a lot of content to be created and sold.

One thing you need to do is to change a Python script to make it work with Poser 12. In the Runtime where you have PE look in the following location to find the file to update. "Runtime:Libraries:Character:Evolution:Figures:Character" There you will find a file named "load_current_version.py" find the line that says "elif versionNr == 11" and change it to "elif versionNr >=11" that way when you load a character it will load the correct base figure based on which version of Poser you are using. Since Poser 12 is closer to 11 then 10 the change will make sure you get the best figure with the proper rigging.

Hi Richard60, thank you for the tip. I am considering upgrading to Poser 12, so this is helpful.
Also, Fverbaas & rokket, thank you for encouraging words.
I went to the other site. Is the Poser 12 version of Project Evolution have U- in front of the downloads. Also do the earlier versions work in Poser 12 including the X versions? Cheers

An OBZ is a compressed geometry file. Apparently Poser can't seem to locate the compressed geometry file for PE.
I just did testing with PE and Poser 12.276 and have no problems. I have my poser Program and content located on my E drive so don't run into any permissions issues with Poser not finding things. If you are having to locate all the items you listed you may have an issue with folder permissions, or the folder not being found right away. Does the locate message happen with all your content?

It sounds like the runtime containing PE is not attached to Poser.
Project Evolution is for sale here at Rosity. I bought it here.
There are also supporting products for sale in RMP.
I wish there were more support for PE, but it's not really surprising there isn't. I don't think you can blame Rosity. They haven't tried to quash competing figures. Heck, they included Dawn and Dusk for free with Poser.
I wanted to apply different texture to the PE figure with my morph. I tried to see if I can use Danae's London texture by tweaking the diffuse map using gimp, but unfortunately it didn't turn out well. I've never created facial texture from scratch successfully, so I kind of gave up in the past. I purchased Blacksmith3D quite a while ago, but totaly forgot how to use it because of the lack of use on my part. However I thought I'd give it another try today, and this time, I was more determined to produce something I can use. I started learning (or re-learning) how to use the software by applying texture to Suzanne the Monkey obj from Blender as a test figure. It took me sometime to re-learn Blacksmith3D but once I got a hang of how to use the software, applying photo texture on the face part was much smoother than I had expected. It was fun and rewarding learning experience. (I haven't done displacement/bump map, so the brows are flat ;-))!
I’ve been trying to recreate some of my old V2 and V3 characters using PE to take advantage of its features, and one thing PE definitely needs are more facial morphs to customize small details such as the shape of the nose profile or the width of the eyelids and the shape of the head. Otherwise, PE is close to perfect for me.

As always I am late to the party, but I have an excuse: I am sick... cough...
As you might have noticed, Project Evolution ONE is now available here at Renderosity! Please bear with me, I'm a little nervous. Although it was always the plan to release here at Rendo and elsewhere, Project Evolution ONE is the first product that I am selling outside of my home base. This is an exception as I am doing this hopefully for the benefit of Poser and Poser artists!
For those that are new to the project: a quick breakdown of what this product is:
Project Evolution ONE adds the following to your runtime:

Naughty Versions
For the naughty people under us, ONE X Addon is available at the usual naughty site. I will soonish get the Futagirls done. The futagirls will be mostly compatible with PE ONE content.
Content
The main issue with PE at the moment is obviously content, or at least conforming content that needs rigging (Dynamic clothing is a piece of cake). Because things like bending, expressions and variability were prioritized during the development, as expected, the main thing holding that back is the whole editing of JCMs thing, many people are not sure how to do that. Don't worry you're not alone, JCMs are not that hard to understand, they're just require a few more steps than normal morphs. There are efforts underway to help you with this*. There is also an update for the improved mannequins coming soon.
Check out this thread over at Smith Micro about how the mannequins can be used.
Here is a draft of Rigging Instructions and background info I am making on how to rig stuff for PE (work in progress)
One might ask why I chose to make her rig so complex? To put it very simply, PE is the result of hundreds of people asking me about my figures in my scenes since 2012. This is how I've been doing my figures for years now. All I do is put artistic form before all else, and then I suffer the consequences... but its worth it IMO. If I can do it, I'm sure many others can do it. And in this world of CGI when people are spending millions on mocap, renderers, skin simulations, rigging tricks and techniques, my little puny JCMs are laughable in the grand scheme of things. PE is not even remotely as complex as some of the rigs getting built for Hollywood movies in Maya, Houdini, Modo, Marionette, Lightwave... even Unreal. People say I shouldn't even be bothering with Poser, actually, but Poser CAN do it. And why not? I don't see why we need to limit ourselves to easy-peasy rigs. Yes, its is a risk I am taking, but I have to, because anything else would be a waste of time IMO. Its all been done before, I want to try something different. We have figures that slot into the content market perfectly, that's good obviously, but there are people that want something more than just that. PE might be the first one to start in that direction.
