Subject: Skydome? Environment?

How does that work in DS? I tried to do that ... I got either full black background even with an emitter or white ambient. Is there a skydome that comes with DS?

Yes, DS does come with a skydome, but I would need to go back and refresh my memory on the practical setup. Although I have dual platforms on my computer, it has been a while since I set up an entire scene. Someone should come along with more precise instructions.

Iray or 3Delight? In Iray you use the environment group in the editor tab of render Settings 9or load a render Settings preset from the presets tab) - seelct an HDR as the Environment map, make sure the mdoe iss et to Dome Only or Dome and Scene (the latter also uses local lights and emissive surfaces), and if you want to see the image have Draw Dome set to On (and Draw Ground for shadows). For 3delight you use the uberEnvironment shader.

Knowing me I will never use 3Delight, just like I will never use Firefly. You have been helping me over at DAZ too RHaseltine! Thank you. and hborre, always helpful. 😄 The tutorials I find confusing not only because the panel setup is of course different from the default, but because some of the processes and ... locations are totally different in the current version of DS. So your help is greatly appreciated.

I will go by your descriptions and see if my results will be more accurate.
