Subject: Changing default skinning method

Doc000 ( ) posted Tue, 07 January 2020 at 12:48 PM · edited Wed, 29 January 2025 at 6:45 AM

Everything I load uses the Poser Traditional skinning method, and I manually change things to use Poser Unimesh...which is WAY better.

Is there a way to make things load with the Poser Unimesh set as the default?

Could you explain what you mean, and how you convert?

Ignore previous post ... sometimes I just need to refresh my memory and my research. Great idea!

Yeah, sorry...I probably should have been more clear...hehe.

I load something and then click the Figure menu, Skinning Method, and change it to Poser Unimesh. I found that it fixes a whole lot of rendering issues, like fixing some AO oddities on some models.

I was just curious if maybe there was a setting in some preference file I could edit to automatically load things with Unimesh sub-division.

Hehe ... not that I know of ... but then I've proven that age has caught up with me and my memory isn't what it use to be!! I believe however that I've read that some figure structures don't lend themselves well to Unimesh skinning while others benefit greatly as you have discovered.

Have you tried saving the edited figure back to the library?
