Subject: How do I fix warped UVs due to subdivision?

Using an older model that was made for Firefly, with the expectation that it would be automatically smoothed. In Superfly of course it won't do that so I have to subdivide it to make it look pretty, but this results in a striped texture turning into weird rows of ovals. How would I go about correcting this? Do I need to remap it somehow? I have Silo and PoseRay available, I just don't really know how to use them for UV stuff yet.

I ran across this bug a few years ago. I'm fairly certain that it's an issue with the way the model's geometry file is formatted.

Try opening the .obj file in Stephen Cox's UVMapper Classic utility and then resave it. This should rewrite the file in a manner that is compatible with Poser's implementation of OpenSubDiv.

Ha! Thank you very much! I know what it was, I had actually turned it into a prop after deleting some polys and forgot I had done that and it changed the whole thing! When I opened it up in UVMapper it was a mind-boggling mess of tiny spheres, pretty wild looking. xD Thanks for pointing me at the solution!

Edit: Oops, nope, that was because I exported it again while subdivided. I un-subdivided it and then exported and resaved it in UVMapper and now it looks perfect. Thanks again!

I've been facing this problem for a long time, but I finally understand it. Thank you, Minyassa & Little_Dragon !
