Subject: Poser 11.3 Will Not Load

Badia01 ( ) posted Tue, 19 October 2021 at 4:37 PM · edited Fri, 22 November 2024 at 9:24 AM

I've been using Poser 11 since it launched many months ago.  Then, in the middle of a render, it crashed.

I started it again, and it crashed on launch.  It loads the start up preview screen, stalls and then crashes when attempting to load the libraries.  Here's what I tried so far:

1.  I tried restarting my computer (an HP Spectre running Windows 10)

2.  I deleted the Poser.ini user preferences file

3.  I deleted the entire directory where the Poser.ini file resides

4.  I uninstalled Poser, downloaded the latest version and reinstalled it.

5.  I filed a trouble ticket at the Poser support page (no response)

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Did you also get these files deleted?

C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Poser Pro\11

I see the ini file is in there on my system

Yes.  When I manually deleted the .ini files in the AppData\Roaming directory AND moved the legacy content files installed by Poser, then re-installed Poser, that solved the problem.  Even though in the installation Poser asks whether you want to keep or replace your user configuration files (the .ini file directory), the installation process appears to NOT over-write the old files.

Thanks for responding, 'tho as the tech support at Poser has yet to respond to the trouble ticket I filed.  Guess there's no technical support apart from posting problems on user forums.  That lack of technical support is not gonna keep Poser competitive with DAZ.

I once installed a poser product/character and for some reason it crashed poser over and over, and the funny thing it, it wasn't even being loaded when poser crashed.  I deleted that character folder and reinstalled it, ran fine after that. It's weird what can cause poser to crash sometimes.

Glad you're up and running again.
