Well when I first got it I found it tricky, but once I read the manual :o) it got easier...the trick is to get the right image...for example the one above is great for that kind of scene but not really good if you need to move the camera around like say to the side of the mill...I have a couple of others in the canoma forum and a few you can download at www.poserworld.com Steve
you know... i dont want to scoff at canoma (okay, so maybe i do, since i couldnt afford it anyway ;) ) but... what is the difference between using canoma and just compositing your figures with a 2d image? i mean, canoma is supposed to make like that wall there 3d, so you can sit the figure on it, right.... but she isnt casting any shadows on it or vice versa, so they still dont look as if they are really interacting with the scene. ya know? :/ i mean, with most of the canoma stuff i've seen here, that's what it looks like, poser figures composited on a 2d photo. maybe there's some other benefit, like composing and working in 3d, that i'm not aware of from only seeing the final products. but it is a cool scene, steve. :)
I know exactly what you mean bloodsong this is what I thought when i did my first canoma/poser pic so i tryed the same image with the picture and there really is a big difference, the lighting is one ...I have cast shadow off on this only because I haven't mastered how to make them look right yet....this scene isn't maybe a good example but if you tryed the cottage scene the figure can interact with walls and garden seats ect.....Steve
ummm http://apocx.hypermart.net/art/maze.jpg that image I did a little while ago uses canoma, and lighting falling on the figures/scene. It would be impossible to do with a 2d photo, especially since I totally changed the lighting angles and directions, not to mention needing the figures shadows being cast onto the scene So canoma does have a use (albeit slightly limited) SewerRat
