Subject: Next Challenge (Stranger Aeons)

Stranger Aeons ( ) posted Sun, 20 May 2001 at 10:10 AM · edited Fri, 24 January 2025 at 6:08 PM

For May/June, the challenge is to create an image (2D or 3D) based on part of a poem by William Blake called "Divine Image". You can take inspiration from either... A Song of Innocence ==================== -For Mercy has a human heart, -Pity a human face, -And Love, the human form divine, -And Peace, the human dress. OR the much darker... A Song of Experience ==================== -Cruelty has a Human Heart, -And Jealousy a Human Face; -Terror the Human Form Divine, -And Secrecy the Human Dress. -The Human Dress is Forged Iron, -The Human Form a fiery Forge, -The Human face a Furnace seal'd, -The Human Heart its hungry Gorge. A "Big Thanks" to everyone that took the time to vote in the May Challenge, including all those that didn't vote for me. Stranger Aeons

Sounds like a fun one to me:) TRLee and cake1...any ideas for yours yet? GeorgeD

MikeJ ( ) posted Sun, 20 May 2001 at 10:35 AM

Wow, I already have lots of ideas for this one...what an excellent idea! I'd have tried the "artist's workspace" challenge last month, but it just seemed like it would have been too time-consuming to do what I wanted, I had very little free time this past month. But this is one is a very good idea, IMHO. :)

MikeJ ( ) posted Sun, 20 May 2001 at 10:55 AM

And I think this month I might just be smart enough to actually post my entry in the proper place, LOL!

Stranger Aeons ( ) posted Sun, 20 May 2001 at 11:13 AM

Cake1? Doh! I thought Trlee was the only person that entered the Award Challenge. As a result I missed Mjustmike's Award entry too. Perhaps people should post their entries in the Challenge Gallery and the URL link in here. That should help prevent idiots like me making a similar mistake in future. My WEB site isn't finished yet but I'd like the cake1 award when it is.

cake1 ( ) posted Mon, 21 May 2001 at 4:28 AM

Actually, i have a few ideas, but are you sure you want multiple contests in the same time?, i mean, if there ex aequo again, you'll have 6 contests next month... smile Just let me know. If u prefer going back to only one contest a month, i'll agree with Stranger Aeons nice idea (where is my f.. French/English dictionnary?????) Cecile Ps thanks to anyone too ;o)

Stranger Aeons ( ) posted Mon, 21 May 2001 at 12:05 PM

Perhaps we three (Aeons Cake1 and Trlee) should run a mini challenge. Best idea for a challenge wins?

GeorgeD ( ) posted Mon, 21 May 2001 at 12:28 PM

Whatever you 3 decide is fine with me...this is everyone's forum:) GeorgeD

cake1 ( ) posted Mon, 21 May 2001 at 12:32 PM

What do you mean by "run a mini challenge"?

Stranger Aeons ( ) posted Mon, 21 May 2001 at 3:16 PM

Okay Cake1 this is what I mean by mini challenge. Each of us (You, Me and Trlee) posts our challenge in this forum. Members of forum then vote which one should become the official challenge for the month. The closing date for votes should be say um.. the 23rd.

MikeJ ( ) posted Mon, 21 May 2001 at 4:04 PM

Hey! How about we make the challenge along the theme of, "Create a picture showing how the recent winners overcame the problem of what to have for the next challenge, and how they avoided setting a precedent"?! OK, maybe not, LOL! 'scuse me, just having some fun... :)

cake1 ( ) posted Mon, 21 May 2001 at 4:32 PM

Smile... Good one, Mike... Well.. I'm ok with this Challenge of Challenge, where the challengers are challenged by the challenged ones who will then vote until the 23rd. Am i right? (i have an excuse, i'm French.; ;o) / /././././././ Cake1's Challenge proposition: _________________________________ D I R T Explanation : Forget the shiny chromes and gold, the beautifull glossy lips, the lighting skin tones, and let's make some dirt. It's on my opinion one of the hardest thing to do in 3d, and the more realistic effect when well done. I don't mean dirt literaly, i mean a render which is not as clean as it is MOST OF THE TIME. Use bumps, use textures, use lights, use imagination, just use whatever you want, but let's have some soiled materials for a while. / /././././././ Thank you for reading hope you'll like the idea Cecile

Har-de-har-har. Very funny you lot. :-p Well personally I'm up for 3 challenges but I'm not sure if anyone else is. However, I do think we should only have one winner for the month. If it's tied then GeorgeD decides. StrangerAeons
