Subject: FileName convention suggestion

With so many files floating around for Poser 3 and Poser 4, might I suggest we all start adding p3 or p4 to file names where the version difference will make a difference? Specifically I'm thinking of textures and morph targets but I'm sure some other stuff applies. just a thought - RJ

heyas; how about readme files. 'readme.txt' is not very original. :) try to name the zip, the readme, and the main thing the same. (for example, swan.zip, swan.txt, swan.cr2 for my swans, etc.) i am also using this convention for texture maps: ###c for full colour maps ###b for bump maps ###t for templates ###x for transparency maps ###r for reflection maps (### is your filename; if it's a default texture, i like to save it with the same name as the obj it goes on, but that isn't always possible. and whatever extension you're using.)

Gosh, that would be really helpful. I've been reading the threads on the Funstuff downloads and know that even though I've tried to be very conscientious about putting the readmes with the correct files, sometimes I can't connect them up again. If it had the file name, it would be pretty easy to connect-as would knowing what all the files are-.bmps, reflection maps, etc.-esp. since so many are now sent as .jpegs. Also, for some of us newer Poser folks, its hard to know what is/was meant for Poser 3 since we never worked with it. Sometimes I just sort of go by the date of the entry and assume it is a Poser 3, but there are still Poser 3 entries being made now, so that isn't always a safe bet and I have to try it out to be sure. However, I divided all my folders into P4 and P3 imports (and finer division within those folders-I HATE looking all over for things LOL). Diane

bloodsong, I like it. Maybe if we could come to some sort of agreement here then the forum staff would put up the suggested conventions someplace that it'd be easy for everyone to reference.

uh, diane... if it works with p3, it'll work with p4, so if you have p4, you dont need to worry what version it is. :) (well, unless you wanted a morph/texture/pose/clothes/something for a specific p4 character, not a p3 human.)

Oh, I'm sorry. I mean with the P3 people-not the version. I wasn't clear about that. Diane
