Well i convert the model to .OBJ from poser, and then I import into Bryce. Well some models that I import work fine, yet some I get the error message shown above. It seems the models that have a lot of parented props on them dont work. This personally is a big pain for me. Anyone else have this problem and does anyone know how to fix it?

I have had this error happen when Bryce can't find an .mtl file to go with the .obj (not always). If you get the UVMapper program (from uvmapper.com) & run the .obj thru that so that it has texture coordinates written into the .obj file, it usually won't happen. There may be other situations in which this happens, but I haven't run into them (yet).

Note. I find that Poser4 exports an .mtl file along with the .obj. Make sure you keep them together in the same folder when loading into Bryce. If this happens in other contexts, then it's beyond me.

I get the exact same error in bryce 4 when I tried to import my Poser model, but I used VueMaster then, but stopped since it doesn't do what I need it to do. So.. I was kind of thinking that you may need more memory? I only have 128MB atm, and my Angel is 16MB, which shouldn't be a problem, but then again ~shrugs~

I have had problems with Poser character exports, they can't seem to find the skin texture. I found that exporting in 3D file or lightwave works fine

It could be the size of the file. The largest I've ever loaded into Bryce using Windows 98 or ME is 12.5 Meg (larger files failed...). I have better luck loading under NT (I have a dual-boot system on the Win98 machine). Under NT, I've successfully loaded 117 Meg. Usually I get an error message that sez "Unknown error, out of memory", but I've seen the one you've posted too.
