Daz store is finally working again thanks to the "Millenium Cat Brat" who finally figured out who caused all the trouble...now of course she's considering having him stuffed and added to the carousel collection...what do you guys think?...more carousel animals or no?

TJ ( ) posted Fri, 24 August 2001 at 5:11 PM

I dont really know what the product is , cause the store says its down for maintenance right now , but that image is cute , I love what youve done with the cat texture.

nikitacreed ( ) posted Fri, 24 August 2001 at 5:21 PM

Ya beat me too it. I was almost finished with a pre-school Cat Girl. Ah well....she sure is a cutie.

Dmentia ( ) posted Fri, 24 August 2001 at 5:24 PM

I just used the v2 cat character from daz, actually I've never even used that texture on vicki, just the little darlings...Kittens are much more tolerable than cats any way(this coming from a certified dog person)!

rodpanther ( ) posted Fri, 24 August 2001 at 5:28 PM

Wow!! Is that fur texture really furry or is the edges fur post render? Please do a Panther Kitten for me pleaseeeeeeee Happy Rendering and Keep Smiling God Bless rodpanther

I did it the hard way. I even made a new kitty face morph for the girl. LMAO! Anybody want it? It's a new morph...I made it in ZBrush.

Dmentia ( ) posted Fri, 24 August 2001 at 5:49 PM

I can't get that zbrush demo to work on my system, and I can't get a response from zbrush, so I havent bothered to buy it...is it easy to work with?...and what system are you running it on?...I think your morph is adorable btw :)

nikitacreed ( ) posted Fri, 24 August 2001 at 6:01 PM

WinMe or 9X on a HP Pavillion with 192MB of RAM. (that's about as techie as I know. LOL!) I don't think you can make the morphs in the Demo...but I find ZBrush very easy to work with myself. I just started doing the morphs this week after reading Glenn Southern's tutorial at Poser Arcana. It was very well laid out and I am having fun doing them. It is like playing with clay. LOL! BTW: I can send you the morph if you want. You can add it to the kitty at DAZ if you want. Matters not to me....I figure I owe you plenty for that great prop pak and Fae-Lyn and for making me want to aspire to make textures half as good as yours. :o)

Dmentia ( ) posted Fri, 24 August 2001 at 6:42 PM

ah shucks you don't owe me anything...the cat pack at daz actually belongs to daz, I havent done an animal pack "yet"...I'm sure lots of folks would be interested though if you put your new morph in free stuff or even in the store :) that goofy demo wont even open on my machine, I mainly downloaded the demo to see if a:) would it work on my computer?... b:) was the interface something I felt I could handle?... c:) was it worth the investment?(ie could it do things I couldnt do with other software?) says its running in the background after I try to open it, but I cant see it, cant tab to it, cant use it, have to ctrl+alt+del out of it...its weird, and the fact that they wont respond to me makes me hesitant to purchase from them ya know?...just makes me wonder what kind of customer service I can expect from them...

nikitacreed ( ) posted Fri, 24 August 2001 at 7:03 PM

I know that at one time there was a forum that the actual creator visits often. I don't know if that is still the case or not. But here's the addy. http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi Also. In Depth Discussions has a forum for ZBrush that is pretty busy. Southern is there often and he knows about as much about ZBrush as the creator does. I can't really tell you whether to buy it or not. I can tell you my personal experiences though. I have had it for almost a year and never did anything with it until this last 2 weeks. I thought it was just a paint program when I bought it and it intimidated the heck out of me....so I cursed about the money and just didn't bother with it and saved up for PS. Then when I got into 3D....I opened it to try and do some modeling....cussed because I couldn't figure out how to export and didn't open it again until I saw Glenn's tutorial at Poser Arcana. His tutuorials really help to make a otherwise intimidating program a little easier. It really is a powerful program....it just has a high learning curve...at least it did for me. LOL! If I were you....I would go to IDD and talk to Cris and Glen about it before you buy.

nikitacreed ( ) posted Fri, 24 August 2001 at 7:09 PM

My hubbie asked what system you are running. He may be able to figure out the problem with the demo on your computer. I do know that I get a message when I open my ZBrush that says "WinTab services are not available." Then it opens with no problem. Gee...what a great help I am. Anyway...My husband may be able to help. But if you can't get Ofer to respond....I would have to wonder about the customer service also. I rarely ever contact customer service about things....my hubbie usually figures it out for me. LOL!

Dmentia ( ) posted Fri, 24 August 2001 at 7:15 PM

win98 400mhz processor 128mb ram 3D Blaster Riva TNT2Ultra video card w/32mb 25 gig hard drive broken up into 5 5gig portions I guess thats all the info that counts as far as making the program run...unless it has network issues...in which case I couldnt use it very well any way...and I know, I need to upgrade, my poor pewter is a whimp...but we've been through alot together hehe! My hubby usually figures things out for me as well except when it comes to graphics applications in which case he's lost...

nikitacreed ( ) posted Fri, 24 August 2001 at 7:32 PM

My hubbie says that you are well above the system requirements for ZBrush. It should be running. He is scratching your head and thinking about it right now. I have a question though. Are your running at 1024x768 resolution? I think ZBrush's interface has to be at 1024 to display correctly. (You may know this and tried it already...but I hadda ask to be sure.) My husband isn't sure he could solve it without sitting at your computer. :o( But we can try for awhile. LOL! I need an upgrade myself. I still have just a 10GB Harddrive. I constantly have to burn things onto CD just to keep some space. LOL! Like your Texture Tools I just bought and downloaded...going to have to burn them to CD. 11 MB at 56K....whew...it took awhile. LOL!

nikitacreed ( ) posted Fri, 24 August 2001 at 7:33 PM

his head...not your head...sigh Darn Typos!

hauksdottir ( ) posted Fri, 24 August 2001 at 7:36 PM

D'mentia, hmmm... that bobcat texture on BT's new furry cat... Carolly, dreaming

Dmentia ( ) posted Fri, 24 August 2001 at 7:39 PM

hmmm...yeah 1024x768 32bit color I way behind on cd burning atm...I have less than a gig of free space on my system currentlly, so I'm constantlly trying to juggle stuff around just to clear up enough space to work with...and don't even mention defrag...I know I know I'm supposed to do it regularlly, but whose got time for that any way?...wait though, you can do it while you sleep...oh yeah I forgot...I don't sleep hehe...

nikitacreed ( ) posted Fri, 24 August 2001 at 7:46 PM

LMAO! Are you sure you aren't me? Everything you just said is the same on my end. I have about 987 MB left of HD space....never defrag...and am always juggling things for space. LOL! Again...my hubbies says that your PC meets all the requirements for running this program. He says you may have either a bad copy of the Demo....or some software conflict going on somewhere. Just out of curiosity he asks if you are running Win98 or Win98SE. He says that Win98 had some bugs that cause software conflicts and that's why they released the Second Edition, Win98SE.

Dmentia ( ) posted Fri, 24 August 2001 at 7:55 PM

you know...I'm not sure which version I'm running...been thinking about upgrading to 2000, but I'm not sure how my art programs will handle that, and not sure how my games will handle it either... Any way to be absolutelly sure? Properties on my computer just say windows 98, no se mentioned there...I'll have to dig up my cd to find out what it says...thats another thing, I burn these cds, and then hide them as well as my origionals from myself, so although I have multiple copies of everything I can never find what I'm looking for...sigh I downloaded the demo several times and tried to reinstall it thinking I may have gotten a bad download or something, but nada...just doesnt open up for me...least not to where I can use it...it is running in the background according to the little window you get when you do ctrl+alt+del

nikitacreed ( ) posted Fri, 24 August 2001 at 8:01 PM

Hubbie says try this : Go to Start Menu> Run. In the dialog box..type "taskman" (without the quotes). If ZBrush one of the programs listed, just select it with your mouse and see if that makes it show up. He says that this is about all he knows to do for now. P.S. I would be lost too if my husband didn't go behind me and label my CDs. heehee

nitreug ( ) posted Fri, 24 August 2001 at 9:33 PM

Dmentia: I just download the carousel and more animals will be nice and challenging. Very piece of art. I will play with it this week-end if I get time. I just install win 2000 and I believe that all your art work will work properly. I got all metacreations products, ulead products and photoshop products and armorphium, animaster and a lot of others and there are no problem with them. The only area where you may have to download new drivers is where a software deal with hardware like internet line, PCMCIA cards, printer, etc...

jamball77 ( ) posted Fri, 24 August 2001 at 11:15 PM

or is this streight out of Poser?

Dmentia ( ) posted Fri, 24 August 2001 at 11:25 PM

Fuzzy edges are post work...the textures and bump on cat are straight out of poser...the background is from Texture tool package at daz3d :) Thanks I'll deffinatelly give 2000 another look, I just remember my sweety having trouble with everquest after he installed it which is ok as I dont play it often any more...

nitreug ( ) posted Sat, 25 August 2001 at 12:07 AM

i will want to say that 2000 is really more stable and easy to use and more user friendly. For me this is the best OS windows did.
