Well there are a couple of ways to go about this. But I'd first have to know what program you're using to create this. Poser can be very forgiving when it welds the mesh(s), that is to say, if you create the objects with less detail (less polygons) it will do a fairly good job at smoothing out the rough edges. But the first rule of thumb of any object is to optimize, optimize, optimize. High end programs like LightWave have plugins that will "Decimate/Optimize" an object/mesh. There are also Low end programs like Carrara that have a "Decimate" built in (though I have had many problems with that in the past-- it seems not to do well with an object that has a great number of polygons). There are also some other stand alone programs that will do this too. Though they are expensive and I haven't been able to afford them to test them. And I haven't found one that I CAN afford (So if anyone else knows of one, now's the time to speak up). This is all if you don't want to start from scratch. That would be the next suggestion. Redo the props/objects and make sure you use the MINIMAL amount of polygons. I can tell just by looking at the image above, that the Chandelier could lose a ton of polygons and still look great. It seems that (as you stated) it IS a polygon hog and needs a bit of a wieght loss program ;-) I hope this at least sheds some light on your dilemma. James

Its a shame you have to delete the chandalier, its terrific, but hey I will buy this room anyhow when its finished, just what I always wanted.

It's a beauty! I wannittoooo! ;-)) Worse comes to worse, you might have the chandelier in the final package as an additional standalone prop, Some systems may be able to load it all together. or even in two versions, with a separate, simpler chandelier for those who can't handle the high poly-count. A lot of camera angles wouldn't even show it, or just show the lower edge. (Love the room, reminds me of the house I grew up in.)

I'm sure you've probably thought of it but ...have you tried more RAM on your computer? Ok. Money doesn't grow on trees but I love the chandelier to. By the way have you heard the Steve Martin comedy act about getting small? :)

Hi Dolly You could always send the chandelier to someone-for instance jschoen- or myself for that matter- we could import to Lightwave, reduce polygons-, etc, and send it back. Although I dont know that LW exports to Amapi- I have StrataSSPRO-which MIGHT. But anyway. Perhaps in trade for the Victorian room. I would suggest jschoen since he or she responded so nicely. :-) Keep the chandelier-its great! Actually, it could be converted to obj, imported into LWave- undergo poly reduction, then re-exported as an OBJ for import and conversion to Poser Prop. If jshcoen does not want to try I can take a crack at it. NICE work! Eric Walters

Eric, I unfortunatly don't own or have Lightwave. I just know that it has a plugin that will do the job. I have Carrara though, but as I mentioned, it is sparatic and may not handle the large poly reduction. I'm also on a 56k modem and would choke at a 30 meg e-mail. Though I have have had larger files sent and zipped the file should be very small indeed. James

James I have DSL but I dont have a mailbox THAT big. :-) I was fortunate enough to get a "sideways" upgrade for a very painful $999-instead of a lethal $2500. You are correct-LW has some nice Optimizing tools. I was a tester for Carrara- but never got the free copy as promised-due to the MetaCreations breakup-although I still have a Beta version-which probably does not work anymore. Seemed/seems like a promising program though. Cheers! Eric W
