I'm working on a section of my site entitled "Michael's World." The site features all the wonderful stuff for Michael. This Olympian Outfit is one example, as is the Adventurer's outfits/characters I've posted elsewhere. Some questions: Does anyone else use this Olympian Outfit? If so, do you have any favorite "Sets or props" for it? I get easily confused at times, and could use your input. Thanks

VERY NICE.... ..but psstt.... The ancient olympian athlets weren't permitted to wear cloths. They were competing nude. :) The beauty of the bodies were almost as important as their athletic results :)

Britt, maybe he's not an athlete, it doesn't really say that in Ron's narrative here. He could either be an Olympian god or an ancient Grecian man. Ron, I love the Olympian outfit and I do use it. In fact, I've even used it with the body texture for the Olympians as a tunic. It's a wonderful piece. I love both the Olympians and the Adventurers. I use the Michael Adventurer regularly. I haven't really used many props with either of them, though. Melanie

Melanie, thanks for the support. I think brittmccary doesn't know about Mount Olympus, the Mythological Gods, or the people who lived in Olympus? Most of us forget about ancient history and mythology, and only remember the Olympics as athletic competition. Think of it this way: Indianapolis existed before the Indy 500...

Here's a quote from the DAZ site: "From Olympus, Atlantis to a heavenly realm, this matching set of two conforming clothing figures provides countless possibilities for both Michael and Victoria."

The Greek Gods were referred to as "Olympians" because they lived on Mt. Olympus. I don't know that the original ancient athletes were referred to as "Olympians." I love the costumes. They're so dramatic. Melanie

Im part of an online community called New Daedalidai; its a sorta RPG group/ongoing novel that was part of the now-defunct Ancient Sites (weve now moved to Yahoo) -- and, for about three or four years, Ive been generating images of some of the places we talk about. Im now starting to create images of our characters and I plan on using this pretty heavily. As soon as I have something ready for upload, Ill send you the link.

re: sets, Trav's "Greek Bath" comes to mind. Also (just searched "Greek" on HD) I've got a Greek style long ship by Crowfoot from 3DCafe and a nice Parthenon that was a Dedicated Digital freebie at one time.

Content Advisory! This message contains nudity

My comment about the Greek ideal of nudity has nothing to do with ronknights work, which is excellent! I am sorry if my whisper was interpreted as if I didn't like it. :(. I most certainly do. Of course, - we - 2000 years after the Greek period are entitled to imagine what we want, - that is the beauty of working with artistic expressions. I'm well aware of the the mnt Olympus. :) and that "the Olymiade" was the 4 years between the Olympic games. We, - in our "civilized" world tend to forget that the ideals of the times we try to capture might not have been what we fantazise them to be. For the old greeks, nudity wasn't anything shameful, - on the contrary, - they admired the human body. Zeus was mostly pictured nude in the sculpures of him, - as was the other gods of mnt Olympus. http://www.louvre.fr/anglais/collec/ager/br0154/ager_f.htm http://www.louvre.fr/louvrea.htm Britt

Britt, I was not offended. I think you may still not remember that Olympians did more than compete in the Olympics... As you said there was 4 years between games. Again, it's like the citizens of Indianapolis do more than put on the Indy 500. With that in mind, I don't think Olympians walked around nude all the time when not competing in the Olympics. I agree that other cultures don't see nudity as potentially shameful. I think many of us owe that curse to Purtianical heritage, etc. I did notice that my own wife tolerated my nude Poser women for a time. Now she doesn't even like the women in bikinis. She says their boobs hang out. Geesh.

The term "Olympian" isn't exclusively used for athletes competing in the Olympic games, but for those living on Mt. Olympus (i.e., the Greek gods). I live in Oregon, so I'm called an Oregonian. Or living in American, an American. Those living on Mt. Olympus are thus referred to as Olympians, whether they compete in athletics or not. Melanie
