Get your Poser people working! The items are multi-material OBJ props, so you can change the colour scheme if you wish. I've optimised the meshes in all items.. so the file sizes are really small!

Thanks for the nice stuff Gerald. Couple of things you might find useful. 1.)Poser doesn't use .mtl files (even though it creates them when exporting things). Those are for the benefit for other programs that do use them. So you don't need to include them in your zip files. 2.) Poser smoothes(rounds)edges by default. If you take your prop into UVmapper->select all->tools->split vertices. Then save it. The edges will stay nice and sharp like in the picture. Thanks for the free models. ScottA

Um yes you do need to include mtl files and this is why, If your object needs to have multiple groupings in poser for object colors then the mtl files are needed, if the object is to be one SHADE of Color THEN YOY DO NOT NEED THE MTL FILES, THE MTL FILES CONTAIN OBJECT COLOR SEPERATIONS THAT POSER READS.

Thanks scott for the info on UV MAPPER :)

Nope... The various materials (colors)that a model can have is located in the text listing of the .obj file. .MTS is an external source file that was created a long time ago by Alias if I'm not mistaken. For a proprietary program they created. Few programs use .mts files anymore. Don't believe me? Move one of your .mts files to a different folder. And see if the prop retains it's various color changing abilities in Poser. ScottA

Wow... This is really good stuff!! I noticed that when I passed my OBJ's through Poser for final tweaking that it created the MTL's so I thought I'd include them just in case. I'll try what you suggested. Thanks to you all for your comments. Gerald.

Sorry about the typos in my earlier message. .mts should read .mtl ScottA The worlds worst typist ;-)

So why is it wen I load the mtl file the object is multi color grouped and when I don't load the mtl file the poser make the darn thing one single color? Really you do not need them if you resdave the obj file in poser I GUESS. Here is a ship useing UV mapper the way Scott said above, and Im glad I read this I have been wondering how to get rid of smoothing for ages now.

Mesh_Magick ( ) posted Sun, 09 December 2001 at 2:46 PM

Yes the ship was rendered in poser 4.

Here is another ship useing uv mapper split vertices.

Mesh_Magick ( ) posted Sun, 09 December 2001 at 3:18 PM

I s there a way to select specific parts of the the model in UV mapper to split vertices ans leave other parts on the model smoothable in poser? Is it possible to get less smoothing but not totaly without it in poser using uv mapper?
