I think the only way in both animation and stills is to render in .tif or .psd to get the alpha channel. Then cut out the background (or move the scene) using your photo editor. For animations, under "Make Movie," select Image Files under Sequence Type. You'll get a series of .tif files with alpha channels that you can edit in Image Ready or a like program.

Anyone know how to render a movie without the background. I was recently rendering a helicopter with transparent windows and the presence of the background color was ruining my ability to composite the helicopter into the scene in after effects. Also can anyone tell me how to render a movie WITH the shadow as part of the final image? Thanks in advance.
