Latest thing I'm playing with that looks like I will actually follow through with and finish... Just a little sci-fi setting I started modeling here today, this (above) is all made with Bryce Terrains (so far), getting ready to do a little primitive work(pipes), handful of mesh imports(ropes & hoses), and then bring in a few of Remc's charcters and mess'em up as if they're in a firefight, blah, etc. Thought I might put illuminated water into those little pits, to what end I don't know, just going for whatever looks cool in this project. It's the textures that are taking forever, making most of them done by hand in Photoshop. Agnet Smith

Here is a quickie with some of the textures thrown on. Gotta tweak their settings along with their x,y,z so they don't all look exactly the same (even if they are). Oh...that and actually finish building everything else. Agent Smith

Do you paint your terrains in photoshop? I mean the greyscales to import into the terrain editor of Bryce.

Yeah, I did all these terrains in Photoshop. they are not extremely detailed though (don't truly need to be), and at the max maybe 5 different levels of grey to make an image/terrain. Just a little overall to help the "sell" the terrain and it's texture. In fact, the textures for those gratings that run along the floor and walls...are available as a free download from "Textures To The Max" website. The .zip includes diffusion, bump, mask(a.k.a. transparency), & reflection image maps. Worthy download, the link is above. I then just made the greyscale from painting over the diffusion map, and stuck it all together in Bryce. Btw, you don't always need Photoshop, when I first started, I made greyscales in the (free) "Paint" program that comes with Windows, then just blurred them out in the Bryce terrain editor, just fyi. Hmmm. Very interesting. Could you post a screenshot of one of you ps grayscalws that you used int the terrain editor so that we can get an idea of how you accomplished it? It would educate us(me) and I think it would nice to see how bryce turns grayscale into height. Thanks

After I'm through with this project I will probably post the greyscale's in freestuff. Agent Smith
